Over the past few days I had the opportunity to spend time working with the University of Arkansas diving team during the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships here in Aggieland.

Thank you all for trusting me with your care while you were here. It was a pleasure getting to know you and to play a small part in supporting the work you’ve put in all season.

So this is the tangent my brain went on while I was working on a swimmer the other day…

We say we play volleyball.
We play basketball.
We play soccer.

But nobody says they “play” track.
You don’t “play” cross country.
You definitely don’t “play” swimming.

Why is that? 😂

Who decided which sports are “played” and which ones are just… survived?

Alright, Alphas — help me out.
What’s another sport we don’t say we “play”… and why do you think that is?
