Everyone is familiar with "22 a day", but few are familiar with how the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Annual Su***de Prevention Report in its current form might prevent actionable change and strategic intervention efforts. In this article, I discuss my personal experiences with Veteran su***de while serving in the US Army, how the social determinants of health play into the Veteran su***de epidemic, and how the "Not Just a Number" Act can change the game.

Next week, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Student Veterans of America will be on Capitol Hill reaching out to our elected officials; Join us in making a difference by reaching out to those who represent you and telling them that this matters!
