Feel it. Craft it. Heal it. 🎨

Join our 5-week support group for 15-18 year old teen girls where we will use art therapy techniques to help process emotions. We will learn more about emotions and why they happen, connect with others in a safe space, process emotions that feel “too much” or that you aren’t “allowed” to feel, and understand yourself better through self-expression.

Every Tuesday night from 7-8 PM.
October 14 - November 11
$125 total, which includes all art supplies

Come join Chris for a FREE group for men to explore what it really means to be masculine today.

You’ll unpack the messages you’ve received about manhood, reflect on the traits you want to carry forward, and talk openly—without judgment—about vulnerability, shame, fear, and connection.

Come as you are.

Pass it along to any man in your life who may be interested.

Beginning tomorrow, May 1, we will have a new handle on IG and FB, and a new site!

Ultimately, this work of therapy is about being more human, and making space for folks as beings rather than doers. So we think our site gives us a more human element, where you can find our team as a little more human, so you get a better sense of who you would be sitting across from.

Our site also gives more of a picture of our services that we provide as a clinic and as community members committed to bringing more health and wellbeing to Bryan-College Station.

Excited to share with you our rebrand tomorrow!

We have been Oakwood Roots since 2018, with our connection to Oakwood Counseling and we began as a training clinic for brand new clinicians.

As we have evolved, our name and branding didn’t quite reflect what we are doing here at this point. We still do (A LOT) of training, and always have a few newer clinicians in our team, but we continue to grow into this team of clinicians committed to expertise and compassion.

So one of our goals in the refreshed look was a nod to our own start, acknowledgment of our depth work, and then some playful style that captures our team’s commitment to remaining fresh and enlivened in our care for others.

Stay tuned for full launch 05.01.2025

The Inception of Oakwood Roots

The Oakwood Collaborative in College Station, TX is opening a new training facility in August 2018, specifically for practicum students, internship students, LPC-Is, and LMFT-As from the surrounding area. With the opening of Oakwood Roots - A Center for Clinical Development & Practice, our hope is to meet a large need in our community for more mental health practitioners, while meeting the needs of students and burgeoning licensees in a private-pay lower-fee clinical setting.

Interested Clinicians: Located across the street from the Oakwood Collaborative, Oakwood Roots provides weekly individual and group supervision, group consultation, and intensive additional training for all practitioners. Training is geared towards therapists that are just getting started in their work, with a more central focus on understanding yourself as a therapist, given your own story and particularity. The first year of training curriculum will primarily focus on working with the question, “Who am I as a therapist?” The 2nd year at Roots for clinician training will center on more individualized and self-directed learning, and opportunities for teaching/co-teaching at quarterly Roots Symposiums. If you are interested in applying for one of our clinical positions, please contact Jeremy Dew, Clinical Director at Oakwood Roots, at jeremy@oakwoodcounseling.com.

Potential Clients: Our clinicians serve children, adolescents, college students, adults, couples, families, and groups. If you are a client interested in receiving services from Oakwood Roots, please contact our office manager at office@oakwoodcounseling.com for more information.
