Our Story

Assisting Hands Home Care® grew out of a desire to provide seniors, and others needing non-medical assistance at home, with the option that most people prefer - to remain independent, safe and comfortable in their own homes. Owners, Shaun and Lorena Carlson, have both personal and professional experience in dealing with all areas involved in caring for elderly and individuals with special needs.

Shaun, who has a doctorate in Clinical Pharmacy, brings over 20 years of experience as a pharmacist, pharmaceutical executive, and an adjunct professor at a local medical school. His father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease helped Shaun understand the importance of home care services for those in need.

Lorena is a former school teacher and caregiver in both the private and public sector. She graduated with a BA in Psychology and has extensive volunteer experience with the elderly and people with disabilities.

Together, they are dedicated to providing quality and reliable caregiving assistance. Shaun and Lorena have surrounded themselves with compassionate and dedicated caregivers available to assist others with activities of daily life in their own homes. They are always available to answer questions and ease concerns for people looking for an alternative to placing their loved ones in a nursing home.
