Earlier this month, we shared how macular degeneration can affect central vision — but what does that actually look like?

One of the early signs of AMD is distortion — straight lines may appear wavy, blurred, or even missing in your central vision.

An Amsler grid is a simple tool that can help detect subtle changes early. To use it:

• Hold the image about 12 inches from your face
• Wear your reading glasses if you normally use them
• Cover one eye at a time
• Focus on the center dot
• Notice if any lines appear wavy, distorted, blurred, or missing

If you notice new distortion, dark spots, or increasing difficulty recognizing faces, it’s important to schedule a comprehensive eye exam.

Early detection truly makes a difference.

If you’ve noticed changes in your vision, our team at Azure Eye Center is here to help.

What you can’t see matters.

February is Macular Degeneration Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about age-related macular degeneration (AMD) — a leading cause of central vision loss.

AMD can affect everyday moments like reading, recognizing faces, or enjoying time with loved ones. In many cases, changes in vision happen gradually and may not be noticeable at first.

That’s why regular comprehensive eye exams are so important. Early detection and ongoing monitoring play a key role in protecting long-term vision.

If it’s been a while since your last eye exam, this is a good reminder to schedule one.

Protect Your Cornea, Protect Your Vision!

The cornea—the clear, dome‑shaped surface at the front of your eye—acts like a window, bending light onto the retina to give you crisp vision. When this delicate tissue stays clear and smooth, you see the world in vivid detail; but conditions like keratoconus, pterygium or Fuchs’ dystrophy can cause blurred vision, redness or discomfort. Early diagnosis and treatment can preserve your eyesight and improve comfort.

Flowers fade and chocolates disappear — but some gifts change how you see the world and the people you love. 🌹✨

If your glasses fog up every time you drink something hot or walk in from the cold, you’re not alone. ☕️❄️

Winter has a way of highlighting everyday vision frustrations. If glasses or contacts are getting in the way of seeing clearly, vision correction options may help make daily moments feel easier — without the fog, wiping, or blur.

Because clear vision shouldn’t disappear with the seasons.

They call glaucoma the “silent thief of sight” for a reason. 👁️

Glaucoma often has no noticeable symptoms until vision loss has already begun. You can’t feel eye pressure building, and you may not notice optic nerve damage until it’s advanced.

The good news? We can detect glaucoma before you can see or feel any changes.

A comprehensive dilated eye exam is one of the best ways to protect your vision. If it’s been over a year since your last eye exam, January is a great time to get back on schedule.
