It reminds us to be gentle with ourselves in our own grief. And, it reminds us that grief is caused by all kinds of losses. Here are just a few things that may have you or someone you love experiencing grief today.

1. Why a CNA?
When my mom took ill years ago, I ended up taking CNA classes in order to take care of her properly when we brought her home.

2. Why Hospice?
I have worked with hospice for years and it was something I enjoyed. I enjoyed bonding with the patients and their families and just being a shoulder for them to lean on.

3. What do you do outside work?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends - but my biggest joy is watching my granddaughters.

4. Favorite encounter?
I enjoy just sitting, bonding with my patients and allowing them to share their life stories with me.

5. Most rewarding part of your day?
The most rewarding part of my work day is knowing I have taken care of my patients to the best of my ability.

Get to know: Jackie Cain-Boyd, CNA

1. Why did you become a CNA?
Being a CNA has an emotionally rewarding aspect. I have a chance to impact the lives of people and their families. I take pride in having served patients and families for over 25 years.
2. Why Hospice?
I love the compassion and the supportive relationship I bring to patients and their families as they go through some of the toughest and hardest moments in life.
3. What do you do for fun outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my husband, adult children, and oh, so wonderful grand babies. I love to travel and shop.
4. Your favorite patient encounter?
One of my patients started to forget what day it was and not remembering a lot of things. It started to get a little overwhelming for her. I decided to find and place a digital wall clock in her room which displayed the day and time to help her remember. Days after that when anyone walked in her room, she would say, "I Know What Day It Is!"
5. Most rewarding part of your day?
To know that my patients and families are pleased with the care and dignity we provide.
