NEW TREATMENT FOR HAND AND FOOT PAIN NEUROPATHY

Peripheral Neuropathy is a disease of the nerves of the peripheral nervous system. As the name indicates, the peripheral parts of the body — the hands and feet —are the areas most commonly affected.

Symptoms may include tingling, hands or feet going to sleep, stinging, burning, cramps, visible muscle twitching, and changes in hair, nails, or skin.

Peripheral Neuropathy occurs when the nerves that connect to the brain and/or spinal cord are damaged by a loss of blood supply, often as a result of the destruction of the cholesterol-based myelin sheath that shields nerves.

This destruction can be initiated by diabetes, chemotherapy, the use of statin drugs, alcoholism, nerve toxins, AIDS, shingles, and heredity.
