Some insight today from our friends at the Center for Spiritualityin Nature:

In October, accompanying cool, crisp air and rich flourishes of color, autumn brings renewed clarity. Trees reveal hidden hues, shed leaves unveiling long-unseen views. Wild kin join us in setting aside summer’s easy play for steady focus on harvest and hearth. Even our breath is visible in the chill of fall mornings - a reminder of the season’s clarifying force, narrowing our attention to what brings us life when the world grows cold.

Thanks to our volunteers Larry, Nancy, Jim and Marybeth who finished planting the remaining shrubs and perennials for the season.

We have 3 more garden cleanups to connect to that cool crisp autumn air.

Great day with Camden County Parks, Bobby, Brian and Al from the Borough of Collingswood, the Nj Tree Foundation, our funder American Water and all the community members and groups. Thanks to Revolution Coffee Roasters and Cafe' Antonio for the food and drinks. Thanks Commissioners Riley and Maley.

We had about 60 volunteers. Including a power house of Collingswood HS Cheerleades! They brought it!

We still have some shrubs and perennials to plant and lots of weeding. We would love your help at our next cleanups. See our events for more info.

A big shout out to Collingswood Borough for helping us unload a huge truck of trees, shrubs, and perennials for our big planting tomorrow morning. Thanks, especially to Brian and Al from the borough who are a lot of fun to work with. shout out to our great volunteer John Howard And our partner in crime Crystal Wessel from the New Jersey tree foundation. And....happy birthday, Brian!

Please join the Native Plant Society of New Jersey - Southwest Chapter for a tour of the Meditation Gardens of Collingswood! This project was established after the loss of the Canticle of Creatures Meditation Garden, which was located just off Haddon Avenue in Collingswood. Resurrecting its spirit within the Meditation Gardens of Collingswood next to Newton Lake has been a true labor of love! NPSNJ member and Meditation Gardens of Collingswood founder Wendy Clouser will lead a brief meditation before the tour at 9 AM. If you want to get dirty, this tour also includes the opportunity for a garden clean-up and invasive species removal, so please bring gloves if you choose!

This tour is free but requires registration, which you can access below.

Lastly, since you'll be in Collingswood, consider staying in town for Collingswood Porchfest, which will be held from 12 PM - 7 PM the same day as the garden tour! Musical performers set up shop on their porch, a neighbor’s, or even a stranger's porch at organizer-designated time slots. The day culminates in a large after party!

Parking is abundant next to the garden!

So our friend and advisor to MGC, Mr. Bill Larson is the Eagles announcer and also a creator of meditation sleep stories. His meditations are quite lovely. However this one is "a little tongue in cheek" as Bill says. All I know is I cracked up laughing.

We had an amazing art journaling class today with Valerie Pantalone. Besides being a fine artist, she took us on a tour of the plants she likes to draw. She told us the importance of the plants, their herbal properties, whether they were a keystone species, and from her artist point of view - the things she looks at when she's drawing them - like the pin on the pin oak leaf, or the whorls of three leaves on the new growth of a catalpa.

It was a great day filled with an appreciation to nature. We hope to have her return in November. Thanks Valerie!❤️💕❤️ 🌺🌻🌸.

Thanks to Laura and Angel for their weeding expertise. We are leaving some grass for folks with less plant knowledge to pull when it gets cooler. Plans are in place for Big tree day part 2 on October 4th. In the morning. Save the date! Our award winning poets will also grace the Book Festival Poetry stage around 12:30 the same day!

Great evening. We finished the Happiness workshop series and settled in for an evening of poetry. Thanks to Agata Kay and Dr. Ophelia Hostetter ! So nice sitting back learning with a backdrop of waterlilies, pond and distant trees. The geese and their babies were slso lined up quietly as if they too were listening.
