Good morning friends and family. Heaven has gained an amazing angel. Christy Smith leaped into the arms of Jesus this morning leaving behind her amazing family at her bedside. (Sherman, Shawn, Brian, Colin, Kathy, and Buzz). When I got the text, Alexa just started playing “I can only imagine”. I’m 100 percent certain that was Mom’s way of saying she’s fine on the other side. We will miss her dearly, but we are so happy that today - she IS HEALED! Please cover the Smith family in prayer as they are exhausted and are preparing for a celebration of life. Saturday is Christy’s birthday. When arrangements are made - it will be posted. .

Mom stopped chemo in May. At that time the prognosis was 5 months. Currently it is January and Mom is still with us! Thank you, Jesus!! God is Good!!
Friday afternoon Mom had a seizure that shook us all up, and spent the weekend in the hospital. The scans have revealed that she has a tumor on her brain that caused this to happen. She is home now and the next steps are palliative. We do not know how much time we have… However we will continue to thank God for every single minute. Pray with us and for us and don’t lose heart! Mom is strong in the faith as ever and has faced every challenge with grace and courage throughout this season of life. Thank you all for your Love and prayers. God Bless You, everyone!

2 Corinthians 1:2–7 (ESV): Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.
7 Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

Hello all,
We have not posted on this page for some time. As a family we have been so busy doing life and dealing with the daily reality of what life is like living with cancer. Or what it is like Loving someone who is living with cancer and watching the changes and struggles hoping for better days… and more days. Our focus is on other things and because of that most times this just gets neglected.
With that said we truly appreciate all the prayers, Love and support we have received from all of you! Please keep praying, as we all know it is God who is our sustainer and our hope! Pray that Mom will continue to do well with the treatments and that we will all be good stewards with what time the Lord provides. God Bless You All!

She’s out and about! Last night we had a family dinner at PRBC then today open house at Banner. Brian, Leah, and boys are here from Denver. Christy is having a great weekend. Sherman has not had any shocking experiences - yay! God is good.

God is good!! Dad has made it home safe from the hospital this evening. He even managed to bring Mom flowers. There have been a great many miracles on this journey so far, from ambulance rides, to appointments that happen faster than the hospital staff has ever seen… From moment to moment these victories are answered prayers! God is doing great things. He has provided time and time again.

When you have an opportunity; please be sure to thank the Collinsville Fire Department. They have been at the ready to provide life saving care for this family multiple times recently. God only knows how grateful we are for them and their ministry to our community.

Lord, please keep them safe in mind, body, and spirit so they can go home and serve their own families with the same selfless love that they have served ours with.
Amen

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Sherman is out of surgery and doing well. May get to come home as soon as tomorrow! I need to find out how long he has to wait to learn the electric slide. Changing his ringtone from Snoopy theme song to “it’s electric” from the 1970s. Okay, maybe that’s too much 🤣. Will let you know more when I know more.

Christy is doing much better this week. So far so good!!!!!!

Christy is feeling better today. She says she feels better. Sherman is doing okay. He had an MRI today and is scheduled to have a defibrillator placed tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM. He may get out Wednesday. It really isn’t a bad thing - they will be able to monitor him closer. We’re excited about that! We are certain God has his hand on them both and is in full control. Not our will, but His.

Christy is at home. She is just as calm. Maybe she’s really a cucumber 🥒. She says a lot of company wears her out. Kathy will be with her Monday. She is going to ask one of her good friends to come visit another day and we will be checking in on her. Pray she eats everything she can get her hands on!!! 🤣

Plumbing was completed. Shawn and Justin will refinish the dry wall in the laundry room next weekend.

Sherman will be in the hospital for about a week or so. He will undergo a lot of testing. He potentially will get a defibrillator if all goes well. He has to take it easy - like he just can’t be energizer bunnying around like usual. They are checking but suspect he has ventricular fibrillation.

Be in prayer for Sherman’s heart and Christy’s appetite. !

This will be long so hang tight …….. Shawn and I are refinancing our home. They gave us like 4 days to get ready for the appraisal- we were far from ready. Shawn worked me from day light til midnight all Labor Day weekend - even the bonus day. Sherman, Justin, and Dan also helped ALOT! Sherman left Monday night at 1130 pm.

Tuesday morning, Sherman was back at 6 am painting the porch. The appraisal was at 1030. He stopped and went and got Christy because thet were scheduled to have new plumbing installed in their house and they were staying with us a few days.

Once back, Sherman had some issues and Shawn and Christy called and had him taken to hospital. They did shock him because of his a-fib. (He DOES NOT like that at all). I’m silly and maybe one day I can say clear behind him and he will chuckle. They kept him overnight and released him next day and said follow up with electric cardiologist.

Rest of Wednesday and all of Thursday went smooth. No issues - just listening to Shawn stories (some we’d heard before).

Feiday morning, Sherman was having issues again. Blood pressure was up. We called his fireman buddies again. They kept him til noon - kinda like a catch and release. Shawn picked him up and they ate lunch.

Meantime, Christy had her 1st infusion treatment. They will add chemo next go round. Her sister Kathy took her for the treatment - lasted better part of 6 hours. She returned and said it was just tiring.

Sherman had packed and taken their stuff down the stairs - made a few trips up and down and went home. He wasn’t feeling great but had just been up and down my crazy stairs. He and Christy took a nap, but it really didn’t help.

Two Nitros in and they called us. We went and praise the Lord was able to get a phone call from his very own cardiologist. He gave specific instructions that if he got worse to go to er and then basically demand to go to St Louis to hospital that has electric cardiologist.

I gave him my fit bit to monitor his heart rate while we went to get a newer blood pressure cuff for them - easier to use. When we returned, his heart rate went from 74-97 - still resting. 9-1-1 called again. At Anderson, he was noted to be in afib again. They shocked him again. This time he doesn’t remember. He is on his way now to Barnes.

Christy is at home. She is okay. Just pray she can eat and drink. She will probably get an infusion Monday for dehydration.

Pray that Sherman’s afib is coming from the treatable area of his heart.

Pray that Brian and Leah get here safely week after next and visits are therapeutic - love and laughter heal a lot of things.

What can you do? Pray. And then pray more. Pray for healing. Pray the serenity prayer over us. You know this family is a fixer-family. Right now they just need to rest. Pray for understanding as this has all come on so fast; our new word to describe life is overwhelming at times then we finish up with BUT GOD.

i will use this page for updates. You can all request to be my friend - I’m okay with that but sometimes I say bad words. 🥱

Hey y’all! I created a page open to public for updates on the Outlaws (Sherman & Christy). Why would I call them outlaws? Well they are our partners in crime. We hang out with them a lot and we just have fun.
