At approximately 2:00 AM, the Town of Canton Fire & EMS Drone Team was requested to assist the City of Torrington at the scene of a commercial building fire. Shortly thereafter, Canton Ladder 2 was dispatched as part of Task Force 54.
Ladder 2 responded and is currently still operating at the scene. The ladder is actively utilizing its aerial waterway for master stream operations.

Yesterday afternoon, Canton Fire & EMS were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Bahre Corner Road. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire in a second-floor bedroom and knee walls.
Due to no hydrants in that area of town, an automatic mutual aid assignment was initiated, along with a tanker strike team. Thanks to the quick and coordinated response of all personnel, the fire was brought under control swiftly, and mutual aid companies were released from the scene shortly thereafter.
We’d like to thank Canton Police and Simsbury Fire Department for their valuable assistance.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office. Town of Canton Units: C1, C2, E1, L2, E4, T7, C8, U9, C10.

Construction has begun on the Canton Fire & EMS Memorial Garden.
This space is dedicated to all the Firefighters, EMTs, and Fire Police who have faithfully served the Canton community — including those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
The memorial garden will offer a peaceful place for reflection on the proud history of fire and emergency medical services in our town.

On Monday night, Tanker 7 took part in a rural water supply drill hosted in New Hartford, alongside crews from New Hartford Fire and Riverton Fire.
These training drills are vital for ensuring efficient water delivery in areas without hydrants—especially important in our rural response zones.
Canton and New Hartford Fire Departments have a strong working relationship and respond on automatic mutual aid to each other’s structure fire calls, strengthening regional coverage and collaboration.

This weekend, the Town of Canton Fire and EMS were active in multiple areas.
At the Touch-a-Truck sponsored by Canton Volunteer. Fire Co. 1, showcasing Rescue 5 and our new utility terrain vehicle, UTV 6. That same weekend, our existing UTV was utilized during a rescue operation on the Farmington River—further demonstrating the critical role this equipment plays in emergency response.
These events not only emphasize the importance of reliable, modern equipment but also reflect our commitment to updated safety standards and continued, comprehensive training for our personnel. The upcoming upgrade to our current UTV is a much-needed step toward maintaining the high level of readiness and safety our community depends on.
