Our Story
Compass Health Systems, P.A. was founded in July, 1990 by Scott D. Segal, M.D., a triple Board Certified Psychiatrist when he opened the first office in Miami Beach, Florida. Since then, Compass Health Systems has grown to cover the tri-county area in South Florida, (which includes Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties), Charleston, South Carolina and Colorado Springs, Denver, and Loveland, Colorado.
Each of our 9 offices features a multi-disciplinary team built around at least 1 Board-Certified Psychiatrist. Our teams consist of Primary Care Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Mental Health Therapists, Family and Marriage Therapists and Certified Addiction Professionals.
Continuum of care is ensured by our affiliation with 12 inpatient facilities and our continued commitment to the advancement of treatments in the arena of CNS and women's health through our sister company Segal Institute for Clinical Research www.segalinstitute.com and www.segaltrials.com.
We're familiar with the unique challenges that mental health and substance abuse pose to the managed care industry. Through our experience and partnerships Compass is effective in negotiating the challenges whilst still providing quality care. Compass' clinical staff embrace the treatment principles that managed care companies are seeking. We are capable of working in almost any treatment milieu as well as finding economical, effective and clinically appropriate alternatives to hospitalization and to reduce recidivism.
