Run Potential has moved! 😄

For those of you who don’t know, the previous gym I practiced out of closed a few weeks ago. Due to the circumstances, I needed to find a new place to practice out of…and thankfully, the ✨’s aligned!

I’m stoked to now have a larger private space while also still having full-access to Anytime Fitness - Rockrimmon which is attached to Run Potential.

Cheers to new beginnings 🙌

Common sites for Bone Stress Injuries (BSI) in the foot & ankle region 🦴🤕

In this post, I illustrate common high & low risk sites for BSI’s in the foot & ankle region seen in runners.

What to initially avoid as a runner when dealing with a calf muscle or achilles tendon injury 🤔

👉 All of the reasons above promote a higher demand to the plantar flexors (calf-achilles complex), and therefore, should be avoided initially, but eventually returned to once ready!

Sean, with Run Potential Rehab & Performance, is back with past 3 of his training series. With about 5-weeks left of total training the next 3-weeks need to be your final building weeks followed by a 10-14 day taper period. For the 3 weeks of training get in:

1 quality long run per week
1-2 running workouts per week (focus on steady-state)
1 strength/plyometric training session per week
2-3 aerobic endurance runs/recovery runs per week

Part 2 👀

Sean Rimmer with Run Potential Rehab & Performance is back with Part 2 of his and training plan!

You're in great shape if you've been working on part 1. Now it's time to incorporate periodization into training. This process includes cycles of training stress followed by relative training recovery.

Here's an example of a periodized cycle of training:

👟 4 weeks of training within a cycle (~1 month)
👟 The first 3 weeks of training build on each other in areas of intensity and/or volume of training.
👟 The final week of the cycle then reduces the volume and/or intensity of training to prepare the body to build on the next training cycle.

Read more on his training plan and get started today here: https://www.pikespeakmarathon.org/blog/so-youve-signed-up-for-the-pikes-peak-marathon-or-ascent-part-2-the-summer-build

Meet Sean Rimmer, PT, DPT, OCS

Sean is a running specialist physical therapist, and running coach in Colorado Springs, CO. Sean started his practice, Run Potential Rehab & Performance, due to his passion for working with individuals dealing with running-related injuries. The goal of starting his practice was to set the bar higher for his physical therapy services; by spending more time with patients, customizing specific treatment to each individual, and by being accountable for his patients every step of the recovery process and thereafter. Sean also provides movement skill, strength, performance-based training, and run coaching through Run Potential. In addition, Sean is a husband, a dog dad, and an avid runner. He's involved in local running groups in Colorado Springs and has run a multitude of races ranging from 5ks, the Pikes Peak Ascent & Marathon, and The Leadville Trail 100. His passion is truly all things running!

Now that you know his history, he's ready to help you start your training! In his 3-part series, Sean will highlight early, mid-stage, and late-stage training for the Pikes Peak Ascent or Marathon. You can find part 1 here:
