Sometimes in healthcare we forget that we are a team and should work together to better care for our patients. In 2023, a trip to Japan shed some light on the imporance of team building. It was apparent with visits to varous businesses, that every worker in each one, whether staff or manager or owner, are friends. They take time to enjoy each other's company out of the office almost as much as in the office. Ever try going out to dinner in Tokyo on a Friday night? You can’t. Every restaurant is booked for work gatherings.

Here at Peak neurology, we try our best to employ a similar approach. With 7 providers and a steady increase in patient volume, it is easy to get bogged down by our individual work loads and forget that we are a team.

Just this week our providers took a day for team building outside the office. From clumsily hitting golf balls to tacos and margaritas it was a great time to reinforce our strong relationships as not just colleagues, but also as friends. In addition to some time outside the office, our providers meet monthly to review neurology topics and pick each other's brains on difficult cases. We understand that collectively we have more knowledge to help our patients than we do individually.

We hope that other medical practices try to employ a similar approach. Working together as a team is sure to help mitigate frequency of provider turnover and burnout. Not to mention the benefits on your workplace environment and work quality that go along with it.

Meet Kim Robertson, AGACNP-BC. (check out all those letters!)

Kim comes to us with a tremendous background in neurology, from working at the front desk filing charts, to an EEG technician, and now a certified provider. She takes a particular interest in helping migraine patients find relief but enjoys seeing a variety of diagnoses. When not caring for patients Kim enjoys exploring the mountains with her dog Furgus. We are so excited she is part of our team!
