🌿 Meet Megan Adams, a counseling intern here at Burning Sage Therapy 💚
Megan is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University, with a passion for supporting young children and adolescents through trauma-informed care, emotional growth, and resilience-building. 🧠✨
Her approach is:
✅ Person-centered
✅ Trauma-informed
✅ Strengths-based
What does that actually mean? 👇
Megan meets children where they are — not where anyone thinks they “should” be. Every child’s story, pace, and personality matter. 💛
Outside of the therapy room, you’ll usually find Megan:
🚴‍♀️ Road biking
🥾 Hiking
📚 Reading
🌲 Spending time outdoors whenever she can
That calm, grounded energy naturally carries into the way she connects with kids and families.
Originally from Texas 🤠➡️🏔️
Now proudly building roots here in Colorado and serving the local community she’s grown to love.
If your child has been struggling emotionally, socially, or just seems to need extra support lately, Megan would love to connect. 🌱

Sleep and mental health don't just affect each other. They're deeply, biologically tangled.
Research shows that even one night of poor sleep increases emotional reactivity by up to 60%. Your amygdala, the brain's alarm system, becomes more sensitive. Your prefrontal cortex, the part that keeps you rational and grounded, goes quieter.
That's why everything feels harder when you're exhausted. You're not being dramatic. Your brain is literally working against you.
And here's the part most people don't know: anxiety and depression don't just cause poor sleep. Poor sleep feeds anxiety and depression right back. It's a cycle. And it's hard to break alone.
Therapy can help you figure out which end of the cycle to pull on first.
Save this for later. 💛 Book a free consult at the link in bio.

🌿 So what actually happens inside the Summer Mental Health Skills Program?
Here’s what a typical day can look like 👇
👧🧒 Kids ages 6–14 participate in small groups of just 3–4 students
🩺 Every session is led by a licensed clinician
🧠 Activities are intentionally designed to build real-life emotional and social skills — not just fill time
Each week includes hands-on activities that help kids practice skills in ways that feel natural and engaging:
✅ Yoga & breathing exercises for emotional regulation
✅ Art activities that help children express emotions safely
✅ Games focused on communication & problem-solving
✅ Mindfulness practices for stress and anxiety support
✅ Movement-based activities that build confidence
✅ Social connection & friendship-building exercises
✅ Nature-based therapy experiences
✅ Play therapy techniques woven into daily activities
✨ The goal isn’t to “fix” kids.
It’s to give them tools their brains and bodies can actually use in everyday life.
This program may be especially helpful for children who:
💚 Experience anxiety or stress
💚 Struggle with emotional regulation
💚 Need support building confidence
💚 Have difficulty navigating friendships or social situations
💚 Benefit from structured emotional support in a small-group setting

Finding a therapist who actually gets you shouldn't feel like a gamble. And for a lot of people, especially teens and LGBTQIA+ individuals, that search can feel exhausting before it even begins.

We want to introduce you to Ryn Pantoya, a counseling intern here at Burning Sage Therapy. Ryn is currently pursuing their Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, and she brings a warmth and authenticity to this work that is genuinely hard to find.

Ryn specializes in working with adolescents, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people navigating anxiety. Her approach is person-centered and rooted in CBT, but what really sets Ryn apart is their belief that real connection, honesty, and humor are just as important as any clinical framework. She wants you to feel like yourself in the room, not like a patient.

Outside of sessions, Ryn is into reading, painting, anime, makeup, and fashion. That love of creativity and self-expression shows up in how she works too.
If you or someone you love has been putting off finding a therapist because it feels like too much, this might be the nudge.
A free 15-minute consultation is always available. Just call us at (719) 434-1383 or visit our website to book.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
Mental Health Awareness Month won't save anyone. But what comes after the post might.
Every May, social media fills up with green ribbons, infographics, and statistics. And none of that is bad. Awareness matters. Conversations matter. But awareness alone doesn't get someone into a therapist's chair. It doesn't quiet the 3am spiral or help a parent understand what their child is going through.

What actually moves the needle is access. Real support. A therapist who listens without judgment and helps you build tools that work for your actual life.

This May, we're not just posting to post. We're here, we're taking new clients, and we offer free 15-minute consultations so starting feels a little less overwhelming.

If you've been thinking about it, this is your sign. Call us at (719) 434-1383 or visit our website to book a free consult.
