Riding through so many plantations was hard. but the irony really put things into perspective. During enslaved times planters were invested in keeping black babies alive as they were considered an asset... property. Now equitable culturally congruent care is damn near impossible to access especially in the south...making black babies and their families vulnerable to poor outcomes...there is no investment from public health to correct this... surveillance is not enough...it's time to act!!!!
