From Mountain Roots to Peak Performance I come from three consecutive generations of holistic healers, and I found massage therapy as my calling. Holistic healing has been a major influence in my life. My sister is a licensed massage therapist, my mother is a licensed massage therapist, my father is a retired chiropractor, my aunt is a licensed massage therapist, two of my uncles are chiropractors, my grandfather retired from a forty-five plus year career as a chiropractor, and my great grandmother was a massage therapist. With this lineage of knowledge and skills passed down from generation to generation, as well as my professional training, I am able to effectively help my clients on their personal journey to wellness. Alongside my generational knowledge, I graduated as a top-performing student from The Colorado Springs School of Massage after completing an intensive 600-hour course. I learned traditional Swedish massage, and the core fundamentals of trigger-point therapy, deep tissue massage, myofacial release, manual lymphatic drainage, sports massage, chair massage, reflexology, and prenatal massage. I plan to continue my education and gain further certifications to expand my toolkit and assist my clients even more efficiently. My goal for every session is to help my clients achieve an elevated level of wellness. I believe it is essential to listen to each client and develop a plan together to reach their desired wellness goal. I enjoy being in nature, from camping and hiking to fishing and stargazing. I am a Colorado native and have lived in Colorado Springs for the majority of my life. I have been with my wonderful wife, Tiffany, since 2017. Tiffany can be found reading about the law or planning our next adventure. We welcomed our furry friend, Jelly Bean, in 2020. She can usually be found looking for love (or food). I believe life is too short to not enjoy it, and I strive to live it to the fullest.

Which is actually faster? ⏳

I decided to put the new kBox to the test against a traditional weight setup. When you only have an hour to train, spending half of it loading and stripping heavy plates kills your momentum.

Today’s test: Which one gets you under tension faster?

Spoiler alert: The kBox wins by a landslide. 🚀

Why Massage Fixes Tension Headaches

Many tension headaches are caused by trigger points in the suboccipital muscles at the base of the skull. Releasing these can provide instant relief.

The source of your headache? 💆‍♂️ (usually) Suboccipital Trigger Points.

With the PERFECT form deadlifts 👏👏👏

Dr. Toh posted this video earlier and after seeing his form - I had to share it with you

1️⃣ Full posterior chain engagement before lift
2️⃣ Hinges at the hips - not mid back
3️⃣ CONTROLLED lowering (eccentric)

Your deadlift should look like this - if you need help call me or Dr. Toh 📲

P.S. - Dr. Toh actually helped ME refine MY deadlift

Are you actually too “fragile” to lift after a massage? 🏔️🤔

If you’re a high-level athlete or training intensely 4+ days a week, the rules are different for you. Your body is a high-performance machine that adapts to change faster than the average person.

The “Recovery Guy” Rule: If you’re hitting CrossFit, heavy lifting, or pro-level training consistently, you are likely safe to work out after a session. Your muscles have “new lengths” after I work on them, and your body is ready to use them.

BUT—don’t skip the recalibration. ⚙️
You must perform a dedicated warm-up. This tells your nervous system where those new muscle lengths are so you can move safely and powerfully.

The Bottom Line: Always ask your therapist. We know your tissue better than anyone else once you’ve been on the table.

Protect your joints. 🐟 Use Omega-3s

Healthy fats from fish or algae are essential for reducing systemic inflammation and protecting joint health. It’s like oil for your biological hinges.

Timing is everything. 🏔️⚽️

One of the most common questions I get as “The Recovery Guy” is: “Should I workout before or after my massage?”

After working with professional athletes day in and day out, here’s the truth: It depends on you. Your fitness level, your goals, and how your body responds to stimulus dictate your “optimal window.”

In the latest episode of Let’s Talk Massage, I’m breaking down the science of planning your training around your recovery so you don’t waste a single session.

Stop guessing. Start performing.
