The Childbirth and Breastfeeding Support Demonstration for Tricare beneficiaries has been extended an additional 5 years!

The Demonstration was originally set to end at the end of this year. Extending it is GREAT, but becoming a permanent benefit would be even better.

They are currently taking public comment for this to become a standard benefit. If you've been able to take advantage of either Birth Doula or Lactation services through the CBSD, let them know! If you missed out on this opportunity because it didnt include MTFs, or you would have benefited from more than 6 hours of Lactation support, let them know!

It's okay to not want visitors straight away ♥️

Visitors often mean well, but they can quickly become overwhelming in the early days. As you and your baby recover and learn to feed together, extra company can make it harder to notice cues and find your rhythm.
It’s okay to wait on visitors until you feel more settled, and it’s okay to set boundaries around who visits, when, and for how long.

Did you set rules for visitors in those early days? If so, what did you find most helpful in balancing the desire of others to help and your need for space?

PSA! There are so SO many unsafe products out there

PSA! There are so SO many unsafe products out there

Just because it’s on the shelf doesn’t mean it’s suitable for sleep. 🤔

Baby sleep products aren’t always designed with safer sleep in mind, even if they’re marketed that way.

When it comes to your baby’s sleep space, keep it simple to keep it safe. You don’t need to buy lots of products or spend money on expensive items.

The safest place for a baby to sleep is on their back in their own clear, flat, firm sleep space.

There are just a few items that we recommend – the baby necessities:

- Cot or Moses basket
- Portable sleep space such as a travel cot, carry cot or Moses basket
- Firm, flat, waterproof mattress
- Sleeping bag or sheets and a lightweight blanket
- Room thermometer
- Car seat – this is not intended for sleeping when not travelling, but is essential for safer travel.

Reminder that the tiny bits of colostrum baby gets in the first days is ALL baby needs!

Reminder that the tiny bits of colostrum baby gets in the first days is ALL baby needs!

At birth, your baby’s stomach is tiny—it can only hold about a teaspoon of milk. By day 3, it holds just 4–5 teaspoons. That makes the amounts of colostrum and milk your body produces a perfect fit.

It also means that unnecessary supplements can fill a baby’s stomach quickly. That makes them less likely to feed at the breast—which signals your body to make less milk.

It’s a cycle that can lead to low milk supply and breastfeeding problems—often before parents even realize what’s happening.

At Baby-Friendly USA–designated facilities, breastfed babies are not given food or fluids other than human milk unless there is a medical need or parental request. This protects milk supply and supports parents’ feeding goals—right from the start.
