Statement on the Death of Charlie Kirk and the Urgent Need to End Gun Violence
Violence is always wrong, and we mourn any life lost to it, including Charlie Kirk’s. But mourning a death is not the same as rewriting a life.
Charlie Kirk was not a martyr or a hero, he was consumed by the very hatred and bigotry he spread. Every person killed by violence leaves behind a grieving family, and his life was no exception.
The lesson here is not sainthood, it is that hate destroys, while compassion is the only way forward.
We call on communities, leaders, and citizens across every divide to come together and finally confront the epidemic of gun violence so that no family, no matter who they are, ever has to endure this kind of loss again.
