Happy Movement Monday!
Today we're working on shoulder crescents, and if this isn't in your belly dance practice yet, it's about to become your new favorite.

Here's how it works: the shoulder starts behind neutral, lifts up, drops forward of neutral, then lifts and sweeps back, tracing a full crescent arc through space. You can work one side at a time, or alternate between shoulders so that as one arcs forward, the other sweeps back simultaneously.

It looks subtle, but what it builds is anything but. This movement trains the full arc of shoulder mobility and releases the tension that keeps your upper body locked up. The result shows up everywhere, cleaner shimmies, sharper locks, richer layering, and a more expressive, alive upper body.

Give it a try and tell me what you feel in the comments! πŸ‘‡

You know that feeling when you find YOUR people?

The ones who get it. Who don't judge. Who celebrate when you nail a new movement and cheer you on when you're wobbly.

That's what happens in these classes.

We're not here to be perfect. We're here to MOVE, to breathe, to ground into Earth and ignite with Fire and flow with Water. We're here to remember that our bodies are capable of magic, even on the days we feel anything but magical.

This is my full scheduleβ€”every class where we gather to blend belly dance, yoga, witchcraft, and fusion into something that feels like coming home.

Maybe you've been curious but hesitant. Maybe you've been scrolling my posts thinking "someday."
What if someday is THIS WEEK?

We'd love to have you. Seriously. Your spot is already here waiting.

Check the schedule. Pick a class. Show up. Belong.
See you soon πŸŒ™βœ¨

Some days I don't want to go.

Whether I'm teaching or taking class, there are days when the couch feels like the most compelling argument in the room. I'm tired. I'm in my head. The last thing my body seems to want is to move.

But here's the thing I've learned to trust after years of practice: I have never once regretted going.

Not once.

There's something that happens when you walk into a space dedicated to movement. When the music starts, or the breath deepens, or your feet find the floor. Something in you remembers. "Oh. This is who I am. This is what I do."

It doesn't have to be a perfect class. I don't have to flow gracefully or teach brilliantly or feel inspired. I just have to show up, and without fail, I leave feeling better than when I walked in.

Lighter. More myself. Like I've come home to my body after being away for a little while.
So on the hard days, that's my one promise to myself. Not to be perfect. Not to bring my best. Just to go, because I know what waits on the other side.

Your practice will catch you every time. You just have to walk through the door.

Happy Movement Monday!

Today we're exploring one of my favorite Raqs Asana combinations: chest figure 8 in Goddess Pose.

Goddess Pose creates a wide, grounded foundation that opens up the hips and frees the ribcage to truly move. From there, we trace the horizontal figure 8 through the chest. It's that beautiful infinity pattern that is so central to belly dance expression.

This is what Raqs Asana is all about: conditioning the movement your dance needs while counter-conditioning the tightness and tension that gets in the way. The result is a figure 8 that feels effortless, fluid, and deeply connected.

Try it and let me know how it feels in the comments!

I dare you to try something new this week.

Scroll through your usual routine: work, errands, Netflix, sleep, repeat.

Now look at this schedule.

What if THIS week, you showed up to ONE class? Just one. What if you gave yourself one hour to move your body, connect with your breath, and remember what it feels like to be ALIVE in your skin?

Here's where you can find meβ€”all the classes, all the times, all the locations. Belly dance that blends technique with witchcraft. Yoga that flows through the elements. Fusion that breaks all the rules in the best way.

Pick one. Just ONE.

Show up exactly as you are; no experience needed, no perfect outfit required, no "getting in shape first." Just you, your body, and your curiosity.

I promise: the hardest part is walking through the door. After that? Your body takes over.

Which class are you brave enough to try? Drop the day in the comments and I'll see you there.

P.S. Yes, drop-ins are welcome. Yes, ALL levels. Yes, even if you've never done this before.

Your practice doesn't need to be long.

It needs to be yours, and it needs to be often.

Research on motor learning shows that short, frequent sessions build muscle memory faster than one long session a week. Your brain actually replays and encodes movement during rest, meaning the magic happens between practices, not just during them.

Traditional craft has known this forever. Daily devotion and small rituals. Quiet returns. Not grand gestures once in a while.

10 minutes of yoga or a single hip circle. One candle lit with intention.

That's enough. That's everything.

Consistency is the container. Everything else pours into it.

Save this for the next time you talk yourself out of practicing because you "don't have enough time."

Witchy Wisdom Wednesday
Sun Conjunct Saturn in Aries β€” March 25, 2026

The cosmos has something serious (and sacred) to say this Wednesday, witches.
️
Just days after the Sun blazed into Aries, igniting a brand new astrological year, it meets Saturn today. This is the real beginning of a new hero's journey.

What's happening in the sky?
The Sun meets Saturn at 4Β° Aries. The Sun in Aries is exalted, radiant, assertive, courageous, and action-oriented. Saturn in Aries, however, is a little more complex. The disciplined energy can feel inhibited, initiative may slow, and assertiveness might meet some resistance. This is the push-pull of this transit: fire meets structure, vision meets reality.

What this means for you
The Sun represents identity and vitality. When it meets Saturn, you get a mirror. Who are you becoming? What responsibilities are you ready to claim?

This is a time to stand up and be counted. Hard work, discipline, and patience are needed to fulfill your duties and obligations. You may feel called to take on more responsibility or to step into the role of mentor or guide.

This energy can cut two ways: it can bring great satisfaction, achievement, and recognition, but it can also bring moments of insecurity or heaviness. Much depends on the diligence and integrity you've brought to your path over the past year.

This is the magic of mastery, of showing up, doing the work, and building something that lasts. Saturn rewards the dedicated witch.

Ask yourself today:
πŸœƒ Where have I been avoiding structure in my practice?
πŸœƒ What commitment am I ready to make to myself?
πŸœƒ What old patterns are ready to be alchemized into wisdom?

We are being asked to ground our dreams in reality through intentional action. Light a black or deep blue candle, journal your intentions with specificity, and call in the energy of Saturn, the great teacher, to help you build something enduring.

Remember: from this point forward, there's no turning back to the old version of you. And honestly? She served her purpose. It's time for the next level.

What are you committing to this Witchy Wednesday? Drop it in the comments below. Let's hold each other accountable, coven!

Happy Movement Monday, friends!
This week I'm sharing something really close to my heart: Raqs Asana, my yoga-based conditioning practice designed specifically for belly dancers.

What makes it different? IIn addition to getting stronger, it's about counter-conditioning, releasing the tension and habits that block your movement, so your isolations become effortless and expressive.

In this video you'll see chest circles in Warrior 2, lateral slides in Reverse Warrior, and lat pull downs in Side Angle Pose. Each one is training your body to move the way belly dance demands.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned dancer, your body will thank you. Give it a try and let me know how it feels in the comments! πŸ‘‡

Quick question: What's stopping you from trying a class?

Is it:
❓ Not sure if you're "ready" or "good enough"?
❓ Worried you won't know anyone?
❓ Wondering if belly dance or yoga is "your thing"?
❓ Concerned about keeping up?

Let me clear this up: You ARE ready. You DON'T need to know anyone. You WON'T be behind. And the only way to know if it's your thing is to TRY.

Here's my full schedule, including all the days, times, and locations where I'm holding space for movement, breath, and a little bit of magic.

Every single class welcomes ALL levels. Every class welcomes drop-ins. Every class welcomes YOU, exactly as you are right now.

So what's it gonna be? Which class are you trying first?

Comment the day/class you're most curious about and let's make it happen.

I think about this constantly: cultural respect in fusion practice.

I teach what I call 'belly dance' and 'yoga,' but I'm deeply aware that what I'm offering isn't Egyptian Raqs Sharqi or traditional Indian Yoga the way they're taught in their cultures of origin.

My yoga classes are movement-based, we use the asanas (poses), but it's more workout than the complete yogic philosophy that includes breathwork, meditation, ethics, and spiritual practice as taught in India.

My belly dance draws heavily from Egyptian movements, but it's fused with other styles, other influences, filtered through my body and my interpretations. And even the term 'belly dance' itself is Western and somewhat reductive.

Here's where I struggle with marketing.
How do I honestly represent what I teach without either:

Claiming authenticity I don't have
Erasing the cultural origins of these practices
Making it sound like something it's not

I don't teach Egyptian dance the way it's taught in Cairo. I don't teach yoga the way it's taught in India. I teach a fusion practice that's been deeply influenced by these traditions, filtered through 20+ years of study with multiple teachers, and blended with my own elemental witchcraft framework.

What I try to do:
✨ Acknowledge the origins of what I teach
✨ Continue studying and learning from teachers closer to these traditions
✨ Be honest about what my classes ARE and what they're NOT
✨ Honor that these practices come from specific cultures and histories
✨ Not claim ownership or authenticity I don't have

People search for 'belly dance classes' and 'yoga classes.' If I don't use those terms, they won't find me. But using them feels imprecise at best, appropriative at worst.

I don't have perfect answers. I'm trying to be thoughtful, honest, and respectful while offering something I genuinely love and have spent decades learning.

If you have thoughts on this, especially if you're from cultures where these practices originated, I truly want to hear them. How do we honor origins while creating fusion work? Where's the line between inspiration and appropriation?

I'm listening.

Want bigger, more powerful hip movements?

Build the STRENGTH first.

This drill looks simple, but it's one of the most effective ways to develop the muscles that create those dramatic hip lifts, drops, and isolations you see in advanced belly dance.

The Setup:
Come into chair pose (utkatasana), like you're sitting in an invisible chair, weight in your heels, chest lifted. Then lift one leg off the ground. Yes, you'll probably feel wobbly. That's normal and good.

The Movement:
Lift and lower the hip attached to your lifted leg. Up... down. Up... down. Slow and controlled.

You're not just moving your hip, you're building:
✨ Glute strength (especially gluteus medius, the hip stabilizer)
✨ Hip flexor control
✨ Oblique engagement (your side body is WORKING)
✨ Balance and proprioception

What to expect:
You will probably feel off-balance at first. You might shake, you might wobble. Your standing leg might fatigue quickly. All of this is normal. This is your body BUILDING the strength and stability it needs.

As you practice this regularly, it gets easier. Your balance improves and the wobbles decrease. And eventually, you can work on keeping your torso level while your hip lifts and lowers. That's when the real magic happens.

Why this matters:

Big, powerful hip lifts in belly dance don't come from just "trying harder" to lift your hip. They come from having the STRENGTH to isolate and control that movement. This drill builds that foundation.

Practice this for 30-60 seconds per side, 2-3 times per week. Watch how your hip movements transform. I often recommend doing the more difficult side twice as long or twice as often.

Ready to build some strength?
