Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care has been the community leader in end-of-life care for almost 42 years, founding the hospice movement in the Pikes Peak region in 1980. We are the only nonprofit, community-based hospice in El Paso and Teller Counties.Every year, we help over 2,000 patients and families navigate the challenges of a life-limiting illness with comfort, dignity and fulfillment. In a business like this, you don’t thrive for this long, nor serve as many patients as we have, without holding to a particular standard. Ours is simple: We believe that hospice care is about living and that every patient and family deserves consistent expert care and compassionate personal attention.

🐣 Community, connection, and a little Easter fun!

On April 4, the team from Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care joined residents and staff at Pikes Peak Post Acute for a festive Easter egg hunt. Our team helped supply candy for the eggs and enjoyed spending time with residents as they searched for sweet surprises.

Moments like these reflect an important part of our mission—supporting people not only through care, but also through community and connection. We’re grateful for opportunities to partner with local organizations and create joyful experiences together.

Thank you to everyone at Pikes Peak Post Acute for welcoming us for such a fun afternoon! 🌷

Every month, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care hosts about 10 Veteran Cafés across the Colorado Springs area.

These gatherings take place in assisted living, skilled nursing, and independent living communities, as well as at the Colorado Springs Senior Center and Fountain Valley Senior Center.

Veteran Cafés provide a welcoming space where veterans can come together, share stories, connect with one another, and build community with people who understand their experiences.

We are honored to help create these opportunities for connection and camaraderie for the men and women who have served our country.

A recent Veteran Café featured a very special holiday visitor!

We are pleased to share an exciting update for our community.

Voices of Grief Support and Education Center is transitioning its grief support services to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care. Beginning in April 2026, Voices of Grief will operate as Voices of Grief, a program of Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care.

Since 2022, Voices of Grief has provided community-based grief support groups and education for individuals experiencing loss. Through this transition, these programs will continue serving the community while gaining the organizational support needed to ensure long-term sustainability and expanded access to grief support.

Voices of Grief will retain its foundational approach and philosophy, continuing to follow Dr. Alan Wolfelt’s Companioning Model, which recognizes grief as a natural response to love and emphasizes presence, listening, and compassionate support.

We are honored to support this important work and look forward to strengthening grief support across our community.

Caregiving has been called America’s quiet crisis. Nearly one in four adults in the U.S. provides care for a loved one—and that number is only expected to grow.

In a new blog post, Dr. Melanie Stickrath, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care's Medical Director, shares why supporting caregivers matters and highlights an upcoming community event presented by Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care and Rocky Mountain PBS exploring the challenges and strengths of caregiving.

Last week, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care gathered to honor lives that touched our community in a meaningful way.

Residents, staff, and loved ones came together for a Celebration of Life for residents of Pikes Peak Post Acute who recently passed away. The ceremony, led by Veteran Liaison Sonya Bergeron, included flowers, music, and heartfelt moments of remembrance as those in attendance shared memories and reflections.

These gatherings remind us that every life holds a story, and every person leaves a lasting impact on the people around them. Taking time to pause, remember, and honor those we have cared for is a deeply meaningful part of what we do.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate these lives and support one another in remembrance.

Because every life deserves to be remembered.

A physician’s care often begins with a simple but powerful act: listening.

Listening to a patient’s concerns.
Listening to a family’s hopes and fears.
Listening closely enough to help guide care that honors what matters most.

That kind of compassionate leadership is part of the care provided every day at Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care.

On National Doctors' Day, we celebrate the physicians who bring knowledge, empathy, and dedication to the patients and families we serve.

Thank you for the difference you make.

☘️ A little St. Patrick’s Day appreciation goes a long way.

On St. Patrick’s Day, the Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care liaison team hosted a doughnut and hot chocolate bar for the incredible staff at Pikes Peak Post Acute.

It was a small way to say thank you for the compassionate care they provide every day—and a chance to strengthen the partnerships that help our community thrive.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect, share appreciation, and support the teams who make such a difference for patients and families. 💚
