Somewhere else, a grandfather is packing a lunch with hands that used to build engines.
Today, we are building something new…

A circle.
Of stories.
Of stacked journals.
Of kindred hearts who rise before the Morning Star.

The push pin on “retirement” was pulled unexpectedly.
Now the board is filled with appointments, IEPs, school routines and activities.
It’s not what I envisioned… but it’s where I’m needed.
If you’re like me—navigating the tension between what was supposed to be and what must be now—you’re not alone.
We don’t talk enough about the emotional pivot required when grandparents become full-time caregivers.
But I am talking about it.
Through Lazlo’s Heart, I’m building resources, journals, and leadership programs designed for us—the ones who stepped back in with both feet.

There was no handbook when I became a full-time caregiver to my grandson.

No roadmap
No trauma informed training
No guide for navigating systems

So I built one.

The Grandparent Caregiver Handbook is designed for grandparents (kinship) raising the next generation.
