It’s a question I get asked often, and it opens the door to an important conversation.As an anesthesia provider, I have access to medications like Propofol—the same ones used to put patients to sleep. Sadly, there’s a high incidence of abuse within the anesthesia profession because of this access. It’s something we must address openly to protect both patients and providers.For the first time last month, I experienced anesthesia myself during a medical procedure. To be honest, I was anxious. I wondered: What will it feel like? What if something goes wrong?When the Propofol was administered, I simply drifted off to sleep—no fanfare, no overwhelming sensations.
