These past couple of weeks I have had my fair share of ups and downs. My heart has felt the heaviness of the current state of our human affairs. 💔This week I too have dealt with grief, sadness, despair and overall pain to see what is happening in our country. I feel sad for the many people who are also hurting, grieving and feeling any sort of anger or angst. Maybe even a combination of it all.... We are experiencing historical times. We are facing a global pandemic. And this virus has ignited FEAR and worry in so many. If that wasn’t enough to deal with, we now witness a social movement of riots and protesting that has shook our entire nation to its raw core, unveiling ugly, questions and truths about our current state as a nation. We are asking questions that lead to shadowy corners and aspects of ourselves that many wish to remain hidden or locked away or don’t even want to find. I don’t have all the answers! One answer I do have is this idea for anyone relating to how I am feeling: “ Ubuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”. This is a Zulu saying which means, “I am because WE are and I am human because I belong”. When we recognize this truth, we acknowledge the beauty of humanity in ourselves. We affirm the humanity in others, and from this basis realize that we are ONE. 🌍We are all family. ❤️Today I was able to move my body and step away from the external and travel inward to my inner world. Stepping into the eye of the storm around me. ⛈ Throughout each pose I reaffirmed this Zulu mantra to my hurting heart. Throughout my practice I felt the compassion for myself and then, once I was filled up with this light I was able to start intentionally sending it out to others.🦋
My prayers for all of my brothers and sisters of humanity.... whoever might need this: I pray that your voice be heard loud and clear so that it may propel us forward into the next chapter. May this ignite a massive shedding of unnecessary systems that continue to destroy and divide us for the highest good of ALL. May we rise above this pain in the most divine time, coming out of it wiser, stronger and more compassionate to ourselves and others.
