It's Direct Support Professionals Week!

Thank you to CV's Employees First Committee for planning a fun week for our DSP's including a luncheon with a food truck, great prizes, and a clothing swap. 💕

"Our DSP’s are the backbone of the organization and without them, we would not exist. These are fantastic, dedicated people who provide a wide range of support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities including meal preparation, helping with medications, bathing, dressing, toileting, transportation, recreational activities and in some instances the employee is the only friend the person has. They are essential in keeping the person connected to the community and their family. They are required to make daily decisions that affect the lives of people who are sometimes not capable of taking care of themselves. They are an advocate, a teacher, and sometimes a parent. They are professionals who have skills, knowledge and values. Anyone who has ever worked as a direct support professional, or who has had to rely on one, knows that the job is engaging, complex, and critically important to the quality of life for those persons we serve. People on the outside are unaware of the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and dedication needed to be a successful direct support professional. It is because of these attributes that we recognize our employees. If you see a DSP this week or any week, please thank them for their hard work." ~Tim Cunningham, CEO
