Autoimmune inner ear disease is a rare form of sensorineural hearing loss that involves periods of fluctuating loss triggered by unknown stimuli. Sound has two measurable characteristics: frequency (pitch/tone) and volume (intensity/loudness). Hertz, the unit of measurement for frequency, indicates the sound wave or cycle per second — the more sound waves, the higher the pitch. People can hear sounds as quiet as 20 Hz, to as high as 20,000 Hz.
Not being able to hear frequencies within that range, could be an indicator of hearing loss!
