Judith Ann Miller, PhD, Certified Addiction Specialist, and LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback) and a woman filled with sacred vision and wisdom passed away on Sunday, November 21. She was 81 years old and changed the world daily.
The pictures in her FB profile cover photo on the right depict Judith at The LifeVantage Global Convention in October.
Judith was a pioneer in the field in the use of neuro-nutrition and neurofeedback therapy. Both therapies addressed to repair damage to the brain from trauma or substance abuse.
Judith was filled with pearls of wisdom.
“You can’t teach an addict to do the 12-Steps until he can count to 12.”
“The synapses need to fire so the neurotransmitters can transmit.”
Judith owned two addiction recovery programs, the Courage to Change Ranch and Soaring Hope Recovery. She moved into private outpatient treatment at Dallas Shephard’s Harmonized Brain Centers. Judith and Dallas also co-authored papers together. Judith treated people of all ages with many injuries resulting from trauma including the veteran population.
She is the author of three books: "Boots on the Ground: Neurotherapy for Veterans Combating: PTSD, TBIs, Trauma, Anxiety, Depression & SUD", "The Judges Gavel: Winning the Drug War by Empowering Recovery – New Terms of Engagement", co-written by Diana Eccher, M.A and "Herding Cats Because Optimizing the Brain, Mind Body & Spirit is like Herding Cats!"
Judith was a pioneer in her field – and you know what they say… “You can always tell a pioneer by the number of arrows in their back.” And she had plenty.
But Judith was passionate and, on a quest, to change the perception of people with substance abuse disorder and to develop an awareness of alternatives to MAT.
“Judith changed my life… Judith saved my life” was the recurring theme in talking to those who worked with Judith or treated under her protocols over the years. Judith built a strong global network of colleagues and was a sought-after presenter.
Her loss will be felt by many. But the impact she made on hundreds of lives will always be remembered.
May you Soar with the Eagles, Judith.
