The countdown is on for this year’s Navy Federal Jams, right here in Colorado Springs! Matt and I have been members for years, and they’ve always taken great care of us as a military family. One of the coolest ways they give back to the military community is through their concert series, and we are so excited to attend this year!

Kane Brown will be performing right here at Broadmoor World Arena on May 31st. It’s going to be such a fun way to celebrate Military Appreciation Month!

Only two days late posting Mother’s Day pics feels pretty good for Maycember, no? Hanging on for dear life and loving every second of it, because goodness knows it all goes by too fast.

Forever grateful to be their mom!!! 💙🩷💙🩷

London Marathon race recap, the finale! 🇬🇧

I took off from the Tower of London on an absolute high and immediately entered party mode! The spectators were phenomenal and I was so charmed by their enthusiastically polite cheers: “Well done, Ashley!” “Brilliant, Ashley!” “Jolly effort!” “Good on you!” Even a “Let’s go!” was so endearing with their lovely accents. I was wholly won over.

Around mile 15, I was handed an otter pop by a spectator and therefore declared the race a success!

Then at the mile 17 marker, I realized I was actually still running a decent marathon. 😂 I’d thought a sub-3:30 was completely out the window after my stop, but turns out I was still hovering around an 8:00 average pace. I was freshly caffeinated and feeling really good, so I started doing the mental math to figure out how much extra mileage I had & just how fast I’d have to run to hit sub-3:30, or if it’d just be hitting it on my watch so not as worth it to bury myself…

And that’s when I saw Kindal struggling up ahead.

My heart sank because I knew how ready she was for a fast race, and I know the feeling when your body just doesn’t allow you to express that (RIP me at Ironman Maryland with my severe jellyfish reaction… clearly still not over it 😂). But then I was also excited, because that meant we could finish this thing together after all!!! All thoughts of time immediately vanished.

There had been a couple runners carried off the course by medics in front of me already, so there was a zero percent chance I was leaving my best friend while she was feeling unwell. Instead, I took it upon myself to find provisions that an upset stomach would accept: coke and oranges.

We ran and walked, and I waited while she visited the port-a-loos.

I kept giving Kindal a countdown — not to the finish line, but to , who was waiting at mile 23. “Only 2 miles left to Charlie…” And Charlie was such a welcome sight! She had coke ready & waiting, along with an understanding hug. Thank goodness for good friends. ❤️

It should have been smooth sailing at that point, but we ran into a dark tunnel & I took my final fuel… And when I looked up, Kindal was gone?!?!

London Marathon race recap, part 2:

Flying solo those next few miles ended up being for the best because I was solely focused on getting to my sister & her family who were waiting on the other side of the Tower Bridge! My eyes filled with tears as I approached that part of the course, realizing how special it was to get to share this with them — thousands of miles from my home but only a few miles away from theirs.

Tower Bridge is THE moment for the London Marathon. Located perfectly right before the halfway point, the electricity is palpable the closer you get — similar to the Wellesley scream tunnel where you hear it before you see it. Spectators camp out for hours before the race starts, and the energy is unmatched! ✨ My extra anticipation for seeing my people only added to it.

After the second tower, I started scanning the crowd, anxiously searching for my sister… You’ll have to swipe to see how I spotted her because it was a small miracle that I did!

I immediately pulled over and waited as she squeezed through the four-people-deep crowd for a hug. We’ve both been through a lot the past few years without being able to physically be there for each other, so every hug means SO much.

At that point, I’d held a 7:40 average for 12.9 miles, so it was a solid start! But I wasn’t about to just give my nieces and nephew a waving fly by — I wanted to make a memory with them. It ended up being a full two-minute stop as they made their way through the packed crowd to the front for a hug (& then a picture, of course). WORTH. EVERY. SECOND!!! Just so special, and one of my all-time favorite racing memories, by far. 💙❤️

The stop also worked out nicely because half of my bib had ripped off (due to getting wet from all the sprinklers), and a kind stranger helped pin it back on while we waited. 😂🙌

I took back off down the course with a major pep in my step!!! The best kind of runner’s high.

London Marathon race recap, part 1! 🇬🇧

Going into this race, my absolute top (only? 😂) priority was to enjoy the experience. It goes without saying that the opportunity to run the London Marathon is rare — and for all I know, this might be the only time I get to run it. So you’d better believe I was going to love every second!

Pace-wise, my plan was to run a fast first half to get Tower Bridge pictures with Kindal before she took off, and then pull off the gas to a more reasonable-for-me pace. I knew it was too warm for me to hit a big enough BQ buffer with my current fitness, zero heat adaptation, & the extra mileage you tally in a major, so my race time was going to be irrelevant. But I thought I could potentially still lock in & squeeze out a
