Many people have heard parts of my story, but not everyone knew me back when I was 330lbs as a young adult.
I graduated a year early from high school, started college as a business major because I honestly didn't know what I wanted to do when I grew up, but knew I needed to do something. I also transferred to another school for music production along the way.
At my heaviest, I couldn't walk to the mailbox and back without being out of breath. I had exercise induced asthma, bone spurs and degenerative disc disease in my lumber spine (diagnosed after a car accident at 19 years old), painful knees, and poor eating habits, even with being a vegetarian for 5 years of my life, I had relied on prepackaged pasta instead of learning about nutrition. Convenient foods won out and my body paid the price.
The in my early 20s I just got tired of it. Tired of feeling that way, and decided to utilize my membership at Gold's Gym and started training with my own amazing trainer who changed my life ( without you, I wouldn't be where I am today, thank you!), signed up for a 5k, and kept going!
I lost 50lbs with my trainer before she moved onto bigger and better things. I still remember sitting in my car and crying after our session when she told me she was leaving Gold's, but that was also the moment that I realized the impact she had on my life and that I wanted to be that person for other people, and that I COULD be that person for other people. And as soon as I got home, I started researching certification programs and my parents got on board, switched my degree from psychology to exercise science and pre physical therapy and I studied my butt off!
I got certified a year later, got a job at a supplement store, lost another 25lbs on my own and got hit with "you need knee surgery". Lateral release on both knees in a single year and it was rough! Then at least 1 more knee surgery per year after that! I'm now down over 100lbs and working on stabilization.
If it wasn't for the struggles 330lbs me went through, my clients wouldn't have the trainer I am today.
