What is gum disease? Periodontitis happens when bacteria invades the bone surrounding the tooth. It starts to eat away at the bone, causing the tooth to become loose. To correct this, dentists often do scaling and planning. What this does is removes bacteria, and it removes the disease tissue in the pocket. Then the recommended maintenance is to have them scaled once every three months. This will keep the infection at its lowest point. For more information on the services I offer, please visit my http://dralicevesseldmd.com or call our office at 719-574-2424.
