What is gum disease? Periodontitis happens when bacteria invades the bone surrounding the tooth. It starts to eat away at the bone, causing the tooth to become loose. To correct this, dentists often do scaling and planning. What this does is removes bacteria, and it removes the disease tissue in the pocket. Then the recommended maintenance is to have them scaled once every three months. This will keep the infection at its lowest point. TEETH WHITENING…IS IT SAFE?

Does whitening your teeth damage your enamel? Well, the whitening products today in office use two different types of chemicals. One is carbamide peroxide and the other is hydrogen peroxide. When you bleach your teeth, the gel goes all the way through the tooth, it does cause it to be a bit more porous, however that only lasts for about 2 hours, once your saliva remineralizes it. So hold the red wine after whitening your teeth.
