“My name is Victoria and I am the Referral and Resource Navigator for FSC for all 5 of our locations. I help assist our Business Director outreach to our referral sources on the south side. I communicate with all insurance companies to obtain the initial authorization for our facility, whether that is for testing with our Psychologist or ABA therapy if already diagnosed. I support and take the lead for families who are unsure what questions to ask or what the next steps are. I walk them through the onboarding process and guide them in the direction they want to be in. I want to make sure every family feels all our core values and provide assurance they are not alone. My job is to restore the term "hope". My job revolves around the families and making sure they are always an priority. 🙂”

Some OT fun! We worked on sensory input and fine motor using tongs to take the dinosaurs out of the water beads.
At our Central Colorado Springs location, 4 students have been attending the PEERS program for 14 weeks. Each week, students learned a new skill related to social engagement, including how to find common interests in conversations, how to use appropriate humor, electronic communication, how to handle rumors, gossip, and bullying, and so much more. This past week, all four students graduated from the program! Want to learn more about how to help your adolescent develop social skills? Ask about our PEERS program today!
At central we are training some staff for implementing specific social skills programming to increase our client's skills in the school setting. Often when teaching children how to respond to bullying we will teach them to ignore or find an adult. The PEERS program has completed studies and has found ecologically valid and effective responses to bullying. In this sample role play, the RBTs are teaching dismissive short come backs such as "Whatever" that would shut down bullying in an effective manner. Following the instructors modeling, each client will have an opportunity to practice the same skill. Seeing the clients begin to feel confident and proud of handling teasing is always a really special moment for the group!
The Pueblo center had a blast at their Parents Night Out event! PNO is a fun night we have twice a year where clients and siblings all come together for an evening of fun!
Group Instruction: working on skills that a small group of kiddos with different abilities can be included in. One instructor runs the activity, working on individual programming such as fine motor skills, following directions, asking for help, sharing, etc. This video is taking place in our Early Explorers program, where we focus on school readiness skills!
Art time is a great time to work on identifying colors, following directions, turn taking, and attending!
