Welcome to the Second Tuesday in January. It's our first official art show of the year. Happy New Year! Join us at Miriam's Place and welcome Sonja Himler into our atrium gallery for our monthly art show. Please join us, in person, for a public presentation and reception on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 4 PM. Meet Sonja Hilmer

Sonja is a 22yr old creator in Colorado Springs, originally from New York state. She is an illustration major at UC Denver and hopes to progress into concept design. Playing with new and varied media is one of her favorite parts of art, and she reflects that in her work through unique formats and one-of-a-kind pieces. Some of the media you'll see in her display are traditional acrylic painting on turkey feathers and giant scallop shells, acrylic pour painting, fumage techniques, and small-scale trinket carving from natural materials found in the Colorado wilderness.

Aside from illustration work, she is also a competitive figure skater and cosplay craftsman. She competes at the Senior level in singles ladies figure skating, where she is a member of USFSA's International Selection Pool and an up-and-coming choreographer. As a cosplayer, she goes by the alias "Optical Phenomenon", and teaches herself techniques in sewing, foamsmithing, casting, and more to bring her favorite characters to life, which she has won multiple awards for as well.

Creating and Sustaining Community through HNA

At the Holistic Networkers Association, we are establishing small mastermind groups to assist our members during these challenging times. As a group we decide:
– what day and time we meet as well as how often – if we meet in person or by zoom or a combination – what venue fits us best (we are supporting restaurants serving healthy, locally- sourced foods and rotating where we meet)

We talk about our business challenges and share support. We also share personal happening in life just to stay balanced and connected.

“Why Talk Marketing When I Don’t Know if
I’m Going to be in Business in a Month?”

This is the number one question I’ve heard this month. It reminds me of when we started work on our first issue of Terra Essential in October 2008. It was the week before the economy tanked. Yet we stayed focused, published and promoted the holistic community. If Terra Essentials could survive our rocky start, we can surely support our advertisers through a pandemic.
