A hammer toe is a deformity of the second, third or fourth toes. In this condition, the toe is bent at the middle joint, so that it resembles a hammer. Hammer toe results from shoes that don't fit properly or a muscle imbalance, usually in combination with other factors.

Our Story

At Intermountain Foot & Ankle Associates, patients can expect comprehensive care for all types of foot and ankle conditions. Located in the North end of Colorado Springs, Colorado, the clinic is easily accessible from I-25 and Powers. Under the direction of board-certified podiatrist Kerry Berg, DPM, the team at Intermountain Foot & Ankle Associates helps patients restore their quality of life and recover from pain-causing ailments. Even though the skilled podiatry team can treat a wide variety of conditions, they most commonly care for patients who struggle with plantar fasciitis, foot wounds, heel pain, bunions, and gout, to name a few. Intermountain Foot & Ankle Associates is home to some of the most advanced tools and medical systems available. With in-office digital X-ray imaging available, as well as modern treatments like extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), patients can often start treatment the same day they’re diagnosed. While most patients can find relief through conservative treatment options, in some cases surgery is the best solution. As an on-staff foot surgeon, Dr. Berg can treat patients at Penrose-St. Francis and University of Colorado Health Hospitals, if needed. Intermountain Foot & Ankle Associates has plenty of convenient handicapped parking spaces right out front. Upon entering the welcoming waiting area, patients are immediately greeted by the practice’s friendly dogs Zoya and Ziggy, and caring team members. The team even offers flexible scheduling throughout the week for new and existing patients.
