Biocomp Laboratories, Inc.

Biocomp Laboratories, Inc. Welcome to BioComp Laboratories, Inc. Our objective is to measure immune system response on an individual basis using our biocompatibility test!

The Biocompatibility test- a comprehensive report that simply states whether the dental materials are Highly Reactive, Moderately Reactive, or Least Reactive. This information allows the individual to learn about and avoid dental toxicity by using as many least reactive materials as possible.

Could I be reacting to my dental work?

If you have a reaction to dental materials, your body may exhibit various symptoms depending on the severity of the reaction and the type of material used.

The signs and symptoms of dental work reactivity will be DIFFERENT FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL, however here are some of the more common/possible symptoms you may be experiencing.

Neurological Symptoms
• Headaches, brain fog, or dizziness.
• Tingling or numbness in the mouth or extremities.
• In rare cases, chronic fatigue or muscle weakness, possibly linked to metal hypersensitivity (e.g., nickel, mercury, or titanium).

The BioComp Labs assays the reactivity to the chemical components of over 11,000+ dental materials which can be placed into 21 different categories which include: cements, composites, porcelains & ceramics, dental implants, dentures, bonding materials, temporary materials, etc.

Each category is then further divided into three tiers of each individual’s serum reactivity: Highly Reactive, Moderately Reactive, and Least Reactive.

The signs and symptoms of dental work reactivity will be DIFFERENT FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL, however here are some of the more common/possible symptoms you may be experiencing.

Skin Reactions and Allergies
• Itching, rashes, or eczema, particularly around the face and neck.
• Hives or dermatitis, often due to materials like latex, acrylics, or metal alloys.
• Headaches or dizziness – Caused by sensitivity to metals or chemicals in fillings, crowns, or adhesives.
• Skin reactions – Rashes, itching, or eczema, particularly if you have a latex or acrylic allergy.
• Respiratory issues – Some materials may trigger asthma-like symptoms or difficulty breathing.
• Fatigue and brain fog – Reported in cases of heavy metal toxicity (e.g., from mercury in amalgam fillings).

The BioComp Labs assays the reactivity to the chemical components of over 11,000+ dental materials which can be placed into 21 different categories which include: cements, composites, porcelains & ceramics, dental implants, dentures, bonding materials, temporary materials, etc.

The next steps if you think you are reacting to your dental work

Get tested: get your BioComp done today!
• Consult your dentist – Find out what materials were used in your dental care.
• Consider replacement with the most biocompatible materials – Options like zirconia crowns, composite resins, and metal free implants may be safer alternatives.
• Monitor your symptoms – If systemic reactions persist, seek advice from an allergist or functional medicine doctor.

The BioComp Labs assays the reactivity to the chemical components of over 11,000+ dental materials which can be placed into 21 different categories which include: cements, composites, porcelains & ceramics, dental implants, dentures, bonding materials, temporary materials, etc.

Autoimmune or Long-Term Effects
• Chronic joint pain or body aches.
• Exacerbation of autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.
• Metal hypersensitivity – Some people react to nickel, chromium, or titanium, which can cause joint pain, chronic fatigue, or fibromyalgia-like symptoms.
• Chronic inflammation – Ongoing exposure to an irritant can trigger immune responses, leading to gum disease or systemic inflammation.

The BioComp Labs assays the reactivity to the chemical components of over 11,000+ dental materials which can be placed into 21 different categories which include: cements, composites, porcelains & ceramics, dental implants, dentures, bonding materials, temporary materials, etc.

Here’s a 5 Part series explaining why BIOCOMPATIBILITY MATTERS!
>Longevity and Success of Dental Restorations
• A well-tolerated material is less likely to cause local inflammation, leading to better healing and long-term durability of dental restorations.
• Reduced rejection or failure rates in procedures like implants, crowns, and bridges.
Biocompatibility testing allows for a tailored approach, ensuring that each patient receives restorations that suit their unique biology.
Particularly important for individuals with chemical sensitivities, chronic illnesses, or a history of material-related issues.

Here’s a 5 Part series explaining why BIOCOMPATIBILITY MATTERS!
>Minimizing Systemic Toxicity
• Dental materials can release trace chemicals (metals and nonmetals) into the bloodstream, which may accumulate in organs over time.
• Materials like phenol, cadmium and nickel in composite resins or metal ions in implants can have endocrine-disrupting or toxic effects.

Here’s a 5 Part series explaining why BIOCOMPATIBILITY MATTERS!
>Prevention of Allergic Reactions and Sensitivities
• Some dental materials, such as nickel, mercury (in amalgam), and certain acrylics, can trigger allergic reactions or sensitivities in susceptible individuals.
• Serum biocompatibility testing helps identify which materials a patient’s immune system may react to, reducing the risk of inflammation or systemic issues.

Here’s a 5 Part series explaining why BIOCOMPATIBILITY MATTERS!
> Avoiding Autoimmune or Inflammatory Responses
• Some individuals, especially those with autoimmune conditions, may have heightened immune responses to certain metals or composites.
• Testing for serum biocompatibility can help select materials that won’t exacerbate inflammation or trigger immune dysfunction.
Biocompatibility testing allows for a tailored approach, ensuring that each patient receives restorations that suit their unique biology.

PROS AND CONS - SEE COMMENTS FOR MORE INFORMATION!

Metal: The most widely used metal in dental implants due to its strength and corrosion resistance, however implants are typically not 100% Titanium. A mixture of titanium, aluminum, cobalt and/or chromium is common. Are you biocompatible?
Ceramic: Zirconia is a ceramic derived from zirconium that serves as a alternative to titanium implants, however these implants also may contain other additives.
