⭐Client Profile⭐
Brenda D. Age: 54
-knee pain
-low back/hip pain
-weight loss
Brenda came back to see me earlier this year with concerns of lower back pain, hip pain, knee pain and had the goal of losing some weight. She is a strong-willed woman and was determined to see results while being able to live her life pain-free.
⚠️Exercise Framework⚠️
✔Single Leg Work: pictured is a split squat. Single leg work is important to balance out the hips while challenging stability ➡️ forcing the core to engage at the same time. Training the glutes to keep the femur externally rotated and keeping a proper shin angle in a squat is key to avoiding stress on the knees. The glutes and core working as one to stabilize the spine is important for low back injuries.
✔Core Stability: we do a lot of work to train the core to be stronger against forces of extension, rotation and flexion. Every exercise is designed to put her in a position where she needs to focus on her core against those forces.
✔Hinging: the hamstrings are typically really tight in people with low back pain, hindering the hinge pattern. We work hard to lengthen the hamstrings through various techniques and developing a smooth hinge so hamstrings and glutes can work properly to extend the hips.
✔Nutrition: Brenda has worked with our holistic nutritionist to help her choose foods that will nourish her body in a way that reduces inflammation, increases recovery time and leaves her energized.

⭐Although we are still working together, Brenda has significantly less back/hip pain, rarely feels her knee and has LOST 24lbs!! We are making progress with every session and I'm excited to see her move to the next level!⭐

✨CLIENT PROFILE✨
Courtney P. Age 43
I began training Courtney over 4 years ago. Her day job consists of sitting at a desk on a computer. She lives an active lifestyle enjoying pilates, ballet and performs belly dance. She had developed various pains and imbalances. She would get neck pain, elbow pain, knee pain, imbalances in her hips and most recently, an Achilles tendon strain.
⚠️With all of this I developed the following course of action:
✔Hip and Core Stability - a lot of single leg work
✔Overall Leg Strength - emphasizing lateral movements and change of direction
✔Neck Flexor Strength
✔6 Position Wrist Isometrics - to strengthen and stabilize the wrist
✔Other limitations in ROM - releasing overactive muscles including: hip flexors, levator scap (posterior neck muscle), hamstrings, gastroc (a calf muscle), and wrist extensor muscles. We also worked on ankle dorsiflexion and getting the big toe to stabilize.
✳TODAY she can dance without knee pain (which was quite common before coming to me even though she had a trainer), her hips are balanced and her wrists are a lot stronger (meaning less flare ups of the elbow). Although her achilles is still healing, it's doing so quite nicely. With carefully planned movement preparation she is able to dance without aggravating her Achilles. She has made incredible progress and is able to do the physical activities she enjoys without nagging aches and pains!!

✨CLIENT PROFILE✨
Debra Swanson age 65
Debra came to me as a referral from her physical therapist for her on going trouble with hip bursitis on her right side, SI pain, and right medial knee pain. As a very active person going to Zumba, bar class, and fight fit classes every week without fail she was limited by her hip and knee pain but never wanted to give up. She'd wake up with the nagging reminders from her hips and knee that she over did it the day before and this would occur on a pretty regular basis for a year before we started to work together.
At the very beginning she was very reserved and naturally timid about the path we were about to embark down because of having to break from her routine quite a bit and trusting in my guidance along the way.
⚠️ With what she had going on it was clear that it was all linked together and the layout of our exercise framework included:
✔️Hip/low back stability - emphasizing a lot of single leg work
✔️General leg strength - emphasizing progressive range of motion
✔️Addressing other functional limitations in her ROM and strength - in her case 🔑 her RIGHT BIG TOE was not doing its job at stabilizing her foot! And her right knee was unable to achieve full terminal extension. **There was a significant discrepancy from side to side in both of these** Today, a year later, she has zero abnormal hip and knee pain, her leg strength is better than ever, and she is doing everything she wants to in retirement without pain the next morning reminding her that she over did it the day before!

Proud MOMENTUM moment! Jana (in the middle) has been training with Ian for about 4 years. I (Becca) started Jana on a customized nutrition program about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Jana's main concern is her health since heart disease and other health problems run in her family. I've worked with Jana on adding a variety of fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains, and cutting down on sugar, alcohol, processed foods and saturated fat. She had a blood panel done and her Triglycerides have dropped from a shocking 275 down to 129! Jana's C-Reactive Protein (which is an inflammatory marker) dropped from 5 down to 1.6!! These are incredible, positive changes in a short amount of time. It's thought that a high level of C-Reactive Protein in your blood is associated with an increased risk of heart attacks. High Triglycerides are also a sign of increased risk of heart disease and stroke. The healing power of food is incredible! I am so proud of Jana and her progress so far. Our philosophy of training and approach to nutrition in hopes to strive for optimal health works!!
