Operating as usual

We are super excited to announce that construction on our newest space for kids ages 8-13 will be complete by early February. We can’t wait to share more photos as we complete the space!

Giving a farewell to the past year and encouraging new hopes, dreams and possibilities for the new year!
Speak up!
When it comes to your family, we're here to offer support, not control. We encourage you to always speak up about what you've seen work (and not work) for your kids.

We truly mean that no kid should be left behind. We're here to help you find care and solutions every step of the way.

Wishing everyone a fun, safe, and HAPPY holiday!
BCBA
We are proud to say that 100% of our Supervisor Level staff have Master’s Degrees and BCBA certification. Learn more about them here: https://www.coloradobehavior.com/meet-us/

Our Vision Statement:

Here at Colorado Behavior and Learning Group, we believe that the best outcomes are achieved by frequent and direct one on one ABA therapy with a BCBA/BCaBA.

We are always keeping up with the latest research, but still know there is no cookie-cutter treatment because there are no cookie-cutter kids.

Beginnings are always scary and we know that a new treatment process isn't any different. One kid and one family at a time, we're committed to earning your trust and finding solutions along the way.

"Fall down seven times, get up eight." Behavior change takes repeated effort and a whole lot of patience.
CBLG Techniques
What services do we offer at Colorado Behavior and Learning Group? These are the general topics, but our care is always tailored to every individual who comes our way.

Good ABA programs are NOT one size fits all and they are not a set of canned drills. That's why we write each program to meet the needs of every individual learner.

And they're our favorite superheroes.

Our offices will be closed tomorrow to allow our staff and our families to enjoy the holiday.

Everyone is different, but if you're navigating this process with a child with autism, you can probably expect this range for the amount of care you should seek.

What we choose to focus our attention on can make a big difference. Encouraging kids in what they're already good at is crucial.

Lucas Rollinger graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Psychology and then began working in the field of ABA after graduating in 2016. He started his journey working with early childhood learners in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but after multiple vacations to Colorado he decided to move to Colorado Springs where he started as an in-home RBT for Colorado Behavior and Learning Group. He transitioned to center based services once the Academy Center opened and soon started his graduate degree at Arizona State University where he earned a Masters in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis. He is now a full-time QASP-S at the Galley center and enjoys learning how ABA can be applied in many ways to different age groups. In his free time, he enjoys camping, hiking, spending time with his wife, playing video-games, and anything sports related--especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Have you heard of mand fluency training, or mand training? It's an intervention approach designed to teach individuals with limited communication skills to express their needs and wants. A mand commonly takes the form of a request and is defined as a verbal act that is reinforced by a specified consequence.

The "hardest cases" are still always valuable, lovable people to us. No one is undeserving of care.

Are you having a hard time assessing whether or not it's time to seek behavioral help for your child? Sometimes that's the hardest step. Generally, you will know if you see concerns persisting 6 months or more, but teachers and other medical professionals can assist in discerning that too. Keep in mind if you have any questions for us even before you need support, please don't hesitate to contact us.

And our job is to help them open.

Happy Halloween from everyone at Colorado Behavior and Learning Group! Everyone stay safe and have fun!

At Colorado Behavior and Learning Group, our caseloads are kept small in order for Supervisor Level staff to work with families weekly one on one.

Do you know the 4 functions of behavior?
The principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) target the four functions of behavior: escape or avoidance, attention seeking, access to tangibles or reinforcements, and automatic reinfocement.

Whether you are beginning ABA for the first time or have been at it for a while, it's imporant to remember that change is inevitable. While this is something many people are all-too-familiar with, staying open to new treatments, new ideas, and new means of coping in different environments is fundamental to thriving over long periods of time.

Because we know you deserve to be confident in your care.

🌸

Teachers, school counselors, and other educational staff are essential partners in helping kids get the support they need. We're always glad to work alongside them to provide complete care!

This perspective is everything.

Julie Plucinik began her career within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis while working with preschool-aged children diagnosed with hearing loss and impairment in 2016. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Organizational Communication, Julie went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Special Education and BCBA certification in the fall of 2020. Julie looks forward to celebrating four years with Colorado Behavior and Learning Group in the summer of 2022. Julie’s passions within the field of ABA include working with children ages 2-10 presenting with high magnitude challenging behaviors, conducting monthly parent meetings to ensure measurable growth across settings, holding quarterly team meetings to ensure consistency across providers, and collaborating with outside entities (e.g., OT, PT, SLP, and school professionals). In her spare time, Julie enjoys reading, painting, baking, learning piano, and gardening.

We always make sure you get to work with the people who are best equipped to support you!

New growth and mindset vision boards around our center!! Who is more excited - our amazing floor sups, or wonderful clients?!? 😃

Happy first day of fall!

More techniques = more treatment options = more client success.

Scientists at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders in Baltimore looked at information on 535 children, ages 8 to 17, diagnosed with autism and with severe language delays at age 4. At age 4, their language delays ranged from not speaking at all to using single words or phrases without verbs.
The researchers found that, in fact, most of these children did go on to acquire language skills. Nearly half (47 percent) became fluent speakers. Over two-thirds (70 percent) could speak in simple phrases!
