The City of Colorado Springs is under a BURN BAN. Here's what you need to know.

• NO grilling or use of outdoor appliances fueled by solid materials such as charcoal, pellets or wood. (propane and natural gas grills are OK)
• NO outdoor fires that use wood, pellets, charcoal, or other solid fuels. This includes bonfires, portable and permanent outdoor fire pits, and outdoor fireplaces. (Outdoor fireplaces fueled by propane or natural gas are OK)
• NO operating small internal combustion engines such as chainsaws UNLESS they have a installed, maintained, and functioning spark arrestor.
• NO open or prescribed burns
• NO model rockets or fireworks (fireworks are always illegal in Colorado Springs)
• NO outdoor cooking, grilling, smoking in city parks and open spaces (Smoking in parks and open spaces is always prohibited)
• NO flicking your cigarette butt out car windows (you should really never do that anyway)
• YOU MUST HAVE A PERMIT for all outdoor hot work including welding, torching, or blasting.
• Smoke outside in designated areas only.

The Burn Ban is in place until further notice. The Colorado Springs Fire Department will let the community know when conditions change. For more information visit

COVID-19 tests can detect either SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, or antibodies that your body makes after getting COVID-19 or after getting vaccinated.

Tests for SARS-CoV-2 tell you if you have an infection at the time of the test. This type of test is called a “viral” test because it looks for viral infection. Antigen or Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAATs) are viral tests.

Tests for antibodies may tell you if you have had a past infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. Your body creates antibodies after getting infected with SARS-CoV-2 or after getting vaccinated against COVID-19. These tests are called “antibody” or “serology” tests.
