Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is Japanese for Universal Life Force energy.
“Rei” means: Universal or all-knowing and all-encompassing.
“Ki” means: Life Force energy or Soul energy.
It was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in March 1922.
This Japanese healing art works with the Human Energy System, amplifying the biological intelligence which governs the body’s natural resources to heal.
Reiki operates within the premise that the chemistry of our being is deeply rooted in energy; always reflecting in the body, mind and emotions. A healthy body and mind requires sufficient energy circulation.
It is administered through light touch and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. The energy centers (chakras) located within our bodies, act like vortices (or fans) pushing vital energy through the body to ensure balance. Reiki heals by flowing through the energy centers and Auric field, supporting and charging affected areas with positive high vibrating energy. This results in a transmutation of any energy blocks (or resistance) in the client's energy system. When the resistance is eliminated, balance can be restored. A balanced energy system is essential for a balanced body, mind, emotions and one's spirit.
Pain or disorder is concurrently associated with energy imbalance. When stress is introduced physically, mentally or emotionally, it causes resistance and disruption to the natural, orderly flow of the body's energy system.
Energy resistance creates deficiencies, sluggishness, pain, disharmony, illness, dis-ease, depression, negative feelings and thoughts, and a sense of being out of sync with life.
