Are Sleep Issues An Early Sign Of Brain Issues?

50-70 million U.S. adults have a sleep disorder with insomnia being the most common.

The National Sleep Foundation recommends that adults get between 7-9 hours of sleep every night to maximize health and well being.

35.5% of adults report getting less than 7 hours of sleep each night. 😴

Neurobehavioral effects of aspartame consumption. Let’s take a look at some research.

“Aspartame remains one of the most controversial food additives, due to mixed evidence on its neurobehavioral effects. Healthy adults who consumed a study-prepared high-aspartame diet (25 mg/kg body weight/day) for 8 days and a low-aspartame diet (10 mg/kg body weight/day) for 8 days, with a 2-week washout between the diets, were examined for within-subject differences in cognition, depression, mood, and headache. Measures included weight of foods consumed containing aspartame, mood and depression scales, and cognitive tests for working memory and spatial orientation. When consuming high-aspartame diets, participants had more irritable mood, exhibited more depression, and performed worse on spatial orientation tests.”

It’s important to note that the higher intake level in this study was well below the maximum acceptable daily intake level of 45-50 mg/kg body weight/day!

A team of scientists from Boston University discovered this in a recent study and concluded that aspartame “wreaks havoc on arteries and may affect blood vessels eventually triggering stroke and dementia”.

Aspartame is the World’s most widely used artificial sweetener. Numerous studies have linked it to serious health problems including:
