The Child Development Center of Colorado Springs, Inc has been offering quality pediatric rehabilitation services to the Pikes Peak Region since 1988. Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech/Language Therapy services are all available. Children requiring comprehensive services can receive all disciplines in one setting. Services Available: Occupational Therapy: Occupational Therapy provides a wide range of therapeutic interventions to develop and/or improve a child’s abilities necessary for the many “occupations” of childhood such as play, self-care, learning, school performance, community skills, and socializing. Each child is evaluated using standardized tests and observations to assess baseline strengths, limitations, and functional skills. A therapeutic plan is then developed with long-term and short-term goals. Therapy is aimed at developing the underlying sensory and motor foundation necessary for skill development, the development of compensatory strategies, and environmental adaptations needed for success in daily life activities. Your occupational therapist works closely with families, medical personnel, and other therapists to achieve the best possible outcome for your child. We are committed to developing skills that will promote safety, independence, and excellent quality of life. Physical Therapy: Physical Therapy provides individual evaluations and treatment interventions to develop strength, flexibility, muscle movements, coordination, posture, balance, and endurance. Each child is evaluated using standardized tests and specific clinical evaluation tools. An individualized treatment plan is developed with long-term and short-term goals. Physical Therapy is aimed at developing the sensory and large motor foundations necessary for mobility and large motor skill development. Physical Therapy also addresses compensation techniques, the use of assistive mobility devices, and environmental adaptations needed for success in daily mobility. Your physical therapists works closely with families, medical personnel, and other professional involved with your child to achieve the best possible outcomes. We are committed to developing skills that will promote safety, independence, and improve quality of life. Speech Therapy: Speech/Language Therapy provides a wide range of therapeutic interventions to develop and/or improve a child’s communication and feeding skills. Each child is evaluated using standardized tests and observations to assess baseline strengths, limitations, and functional skills. A therapeutic plan is then developed with long-term and short-term goals. Short-term goals typically include specific measurable steps that are taken to meet our long-term goals of optimal and successful communication and feeding skills. Your speech language pathologist works closely with your family, medical personal, and other therapists to achieve the best possible outcome for your child. We are committed to developing skills that will promote safety, independence, and excellent quality of life
