WHY ASKING FOR HELP IS HEALTHY... If you are looking for a counselor, I know something is worrying you. I want you to know that it is good to reach out for counseling and support if you are struggling. It is important to invest in yourself and make your mental health and wellness a priority. It takes courage to be able to recognize when you are stuck and could benefit from therapy. Counseling or therapy can be seen as just a way to gain insight into yourself and develop the skills you need to make the most out of your life, like a personal trainer for your mind instead of your body. You don't need to struggle alone, together in counseling we can make a plan and I can help support you as you gain confidence and momentum in reaching your therapy goals.

Individual Counseling:

Take time for yourself. You can come meet with me at my office, we will talk about what is important to you. Just the act of talking about it can help to ease some of the burden. We will look at what is going right in your life and what may not be going so well. I will help you know yourself better and provide support to you as you make new choices for yourself. Therapy is not always a pleasant process, it can hurt as we push ourselves to be more aware and then to change. I will be a partner to you throughout the process and we will celebrate when you start to feel empowered and satisfied and joyful in your life.

I am prepared to help you work through issues like anxiety and depression including thoughts of su***de. I can help support you through grief and loss, including survivors of su***de (those who have lost a loved one to su***de). I can help you deal with stress of all kinds, especially managing your reactions to it, and we can deal with problems you are having with relationships or at work. I assist people with body image issues and low self- esteem, We can strengthen your coping skills, mindfulness, and build balance in your life. I also have worked closely with people who have chronic illnesses and pain and their care partners. I know how difficult it can be to deal with so many challenges at once. I can help with both the emotional struggles that come with having a chronic illness and help you to identify and access potential resources for the more practical things.

Couples Therapy:

Relationships can be a source of great joy in our lives but when they become rocky, it can create the kind of stress that can interfere with everything. Couples counseling is very similar to individual counseling only you will be getting to know each other better as well as yourself. I can help you to develop better communication skills, rebuild trust, and deepen intimacy. Compassion, love, compromise, forgiveness and quality time together are all a part of a healthy relationship. We will explore ways for you to better compromise with each other, reconnect, and re-affirm your commitment to each other.

"We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding and true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know." Carl Rogers on Empathy in Counseling
