Ascending to Health Respite Care

Ascending to Health Respite Care It's hard to recuperate from a hospital stay when you live on the streets. We provide shelter, recuperative care and other services for these individuals.

Ascending to Health Respite Care is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to providing the highest standard of supportive care and interim sheltering to our homeless population that is often too ill for the streets, but not ill enough for the hospital. Nationally, hospitals will keep a homeless patient up to 8 days longer than their housed counterparts incurring millions of dollars in in-pat

ient costs. The presence of a Respite Care in any community has also shown to decrease by 50%, the amount of patients returning to the ED (Emergency Department) within 90 days of discharge. Staffed with highly qualified medical and integrated care professionals, we will work with hospitals to allow more effective discharge of their homeless patients. Once admitted to the Respite Program, clients will experience intense case management in an effort to stop the frequent utilization of Emergency Departments and subsequent hospitalizations.

The Risks - Know Them - Avoid Them

Interesting piece by Erin S. Bromage, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. As we begin reopening businesses, remain vigilant, socially distant, and wear masks when in public places!

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will be postponing our Colorado Springs Grilled Cheese and Craft Beer Pairing Fest tentatively until late September, early October. Those who purchased tickets will be able to use them for the new event. We are reaching out to our participants to see who is still interested in re-scheduling. A lot of our local businesses were hit hard, and some unfortunately will be unable to participate. There are still some that are interested.

These times are hectic, but we will make it through!

Stay healthy and safe. We will keep you updated on this event. Feel free to private message us if you have questions

We wanted to give you an update during this time. ATHRC is working hard to secure a building to isolate upcoming coronavirus cases, and is happy to report we have no confirmed cases! We will keep you updated. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

This is an Indy Give! fundraiser for TOSC, Ascending to Health Respite Care, and Funky Little Theater Company.
One of the most common misconceptions about rising from poverty is the myth that resolve alone can accomplish ascendance.

At Westside CARES, we know that's the furthest thing from the truth. Ascendance happens only with a robust community, and abundant love.

So today, as we take stock of our Thanks-giving weekend, we also continue to give thanks for our partners, who make transformation possible.

Our member faith communities: Broadmoor Community Church, United Church of Christ, Chapel of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, Christ the King Lutheran Church, Church in the Wildwood, United Church of Christ, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Community Congregational Church of Manitou Springs, Gateway Presbyterian Church, Grace Lutheran Church of Colorado Springs, High Plains Church, Unitarian Universalist, Pikes Peak United Methodist Church, Pikes Peak MCC, St Andrews Episcopal Church Manitou Springs, St. Paul's Catholic Church, Stratmoor Hills United Methodist Church, The Sanctuary Church, Sacred Heart Parish, Colorado Springs, Trinity United Methodist Church, Unity Spiritual Center in the Rockies, and Wilson United Methodist Church.

Our collaborators: The Place a former affiliate of Urban Peak, Homeward Pikes Peak, The Springs Echo, Ithaka. Ecumenical Social Ministries (Colorado Springs, CO), Catholic Charities of Central Colorado, Ascending to Health Respite Care, Silver Key Senior Services, Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado, Tri-Lakes Cares, Mercy's Gate, Community Health Partnership, Southern Colorado Health Network - SCHN, Colorado Springs Utilities, REACH Pikes Peak, Rocky Mountain Human Services, Partners in Housing, Pikes Peak Library District - Old Colorado City Library, and too many others to list here! Together we can, and together we are.

And of course, YOU. Thank you.
There are two great events coming up to support TOSC and our outdoors community!
-On Black Friday, there is the annual Night Hike at the Garden of the Gods (Tickets: https://2019optoutsidenighthikegog.eventbrite.com) All proceeds will be split between TOSC, Friends of Garden of the Gods, and the Garden of the Gods Foundation.
-On Dec. 9th, TOSC has teamed up with Ascending to Health Respite Care and the Funky Little Theater Company to have Monday Date Night Comedy. This will start at 7pm and will be at the Funky Little Theater Company. A donation through Give! to all three of the nonprofits will get you a seat for the best Give! event this season.
Come laugh and support Trails and Open Space Coalition, Ascending to Health Respite Care and Funky Little Theater Company's Indy Give! Campaigns!!!
The loves TOSC and we know you do too!

Our Indy Give! campaign is up and running! From today through December 31st, you can support the Trails and Open Space Coalition with a donation on indygive.com/nonprofit/trails-and-open-space-coalition/

In collaboration with Ascending to Health Respite Care and the Funky Little Theater Company, be on the lookout for more information about a Monday Comedy Night GIVE! fundraiser coming up in December!
