Congratulations to Tyler and Meaux for passing through the gauntlet with flying colors! The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is one of the hardest locations our dogs are introduced to. The goal is for your service animal to be composed, unobtrusive, and respond properly to all given commands regardless of conditions. Very happy with this guys performance.

📢 COLORADO!!! We'll see you at YOUR HEARING DOG GRAND KICKOFF CELEBRATION on Wednesday April 17, 2024 in Colorado Springs, CO!
Your Hearing Dog Inc. is a fiscally sponsored nonprofit dedicated to providing specially trained service dogs to the Deaf & Hard of Hearing community. In order to achieve our goal of matching eligible clients with their perfect canine companion at NO COST, we need your support! Proceeds from our Grand Kickoff Celebration will go towards adopting and caring for our future YHD Hero dogs, training, & community outreach!
The Canine Stars Stunt Dog Show features our team of RESCUED dogs and guest stars from around the world, performing incredible feats of doggie athleticism. Dog dancing, disc dogs, high jumping, agility, tricks and stunts! As seen on America's Got Talent and Nickelodeon!
Very excited to announce that in addition to the veterans we'll be working with this year thanks to American Warrior Initiative and the Nam Knights of America MC - Appalachian Chapter we are also extending our services to the deaf and hard of hearing through Your Hearing Dog Inc.
These dogs will be trained to perform life saving hearing tasks such as alerting a deaf person to a smoke detector or alarm, and warning the handler of traffic or people approaching from behind. They also do many smaller things to assist their handlers throughout their dailyll lives, like letting them know someone called their name, or that the phone is ringing, or that there was a knock at the door. Please join us for the kickoff event!
When David Allery and his wife started looking into getting one years ago, they were surprised that there weren’t many dogs out there specifically trained to help the deaf. That got the wheels turning.

At Guardian Service Dogs, we specialize in providing Disabled veterans and service members with quality individualized Service Dog Training. We utilize the Battle Drill Training Method, that was developed by our own Executive Training Director and Head Service Dog Trainer, David Proctor Sgt. Ret. Our Service Dog Training Program is an intense hands on Handler-assisted Training program. Success of our teams directly relates to the dedication and commitment of the handler to the training program.
Unlike most service dog organizations we do not currently use “puppy raisers” or “fosters” because our animals live with their handler from day 1. Handlers come to us once a week for Training instruction. We do offer “Bonus” group training sessions that are open to any and all current and graduated clients that allows them to have access to our training facility and a trainer for any additional assistance.
We require a valid medical recommendation, this document can be no more than 1 year (12 months) old. For Veterans we require a DD214 and Service Members we require proof of service.
The Steps:
The veteran or service member fills out an application (must submit a DD214)
Valid Medical recommendation must be submitted before acceptance into the program
Initial Evaluation - Meeting to discuss in detail the nature of disibilities and tasks that the service dog would need to be trained to perform. Indepth discussion about the training program and requirements. If you are accepted into the program
Dog Evaluation and Selection: During this process the Handler is able to receive assistance from one of our trainers that specialized in behavioral analysis. Our trainer will assess the behaviors and tempermant of potential service animals for behavior, temperament and trainability. As a handler you will be advised of the outcome of the behavior analysis and from there the Handler selects their dog. The dog lives with the handler from that point on.
Obediance Training: All of our Service Animals in training go through initial obedience training starting with
Puppy Training/Introduction to Training Techniques. This is an 8 week course that takes place at our training facility. During this the handler learns about the differences between positive and negative reinforcement, basic techniques such as luring and marking, learning to walk on leash in a “heel”, proper clicker training and basic behaviors such as “sit”, “down”, “come here” “heel”
Basic Obedience - This is an 8 week course that takes place at our training facility. This course expands on the techniques the handler has learned, perfecting commands including a moving “sit” or “down”, “stay” “come here”, “retrieval”, “retrieval interruption”, “leave it” and more

Advanced Service Dog Training- This is the “bells and whistles” of our course. This is a total of a 24 week course that consists of 12 Public Access classes and 12 Individual Task Training classes.
Public Access: During these 12 weeks our handlers will enjoy learning about Service Dog Laws, the ADA, FHA, ACAA, EEOC and other laws that may be applicable for Service Dog Users. During these 12 weeks our classes take place in public environments such as restaurants, shopping centers, family “fun” centers, movie theaters, museums, public transit, the zoo, airline exposure, and Much more
Individual Task Training- These classes focus on training tasks specifically related to the handlers disability those that's can include but are not limited to: item retrieval, mobility assistance, blocking behaviors, room clearing, item aversion and much more
