In continuing our PCA highlight, today we have Abby Pliett. Abby has worked here at Oak Pointe for one year. When we asked why Abby applied to Oak Pointe, she said, "After high school I want to go to college and work the medical field. Miller's gave me the opportunity to work with them through my school internship." Abby's favorite part about being a PCA is working with the residents and getting to know them. We asked what are some fun facts about Abby, she said, "she's 17 years old, plays basketball and tennis, and she loves spending time at the lake in her free time."

As we continue to recognize our PCAs, today we are recognizing Sabrina Smith. Sabrina received her CNA from Miller's at our Tipton location and has worked with Miller's on and off since 2018. Sabrina says, "she loves helping people and has a servants heart." Some fun facts about Sabrina are her favorite color is purple, she has three children and two grandchildren. She also used to be a San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy.

We are continuing to recognize our PCAs! Today we are recognizing Ava Foster. Ava has worked with us a year now. We asked Ava why she applied to Miller's and what her favorite part about working with Miller's is and she had this to say, "I first applied to Miller's to get my foot in the door in healthcare. My goal is to graduate with my RN and continue to help those in need. My favorite part about being a PCA is making the one on one connections with our residents. They are like family and they see all of the PCAs and staff as family as well."

Ava is currently attending IU, studying nursing. Thank you for all that you do for our residents, Ava! We know that you will make an amazing nurse in the future!

This month we want to highlight our PCAs (Personal Care Assistants) for their hard work and dedication to our residents. First up we have Candace Geiger. Candace has been working with us for four years now. When asked what her favorite part about being a PCA was, she said "she loves being able to put smiles on the residents faces and has always enjoyed helping others."

Ice Cream dreams are coming true! We whipped up homemade ice cream for the residents. What a way to beat the heat full of flavor, full of fun and the perfect way to add a little sweetness to the day!

On Sunday we celebrated a century-then some-of Gerald's life. At 103, Gerald has witnessed more change than most can imagine The Great Depression, wars and peace, typewriters to smartphones, 17 presidents, and the rise of things that didn't even exist when he was born.

This milestone isn't about resilience, wisdom, humor, and the countless lives Gerald has touched along the way. Here's to Gerald – 103 years young, and still teaching us all how to live fully. Happy Birthday, Gerald! 🥳

Norma has been a part of our community for two years now. She says she enjoys the friendly atmosphere and how sweet everyone is. She stated, "The dining staff is great. They always have the best food prepared! When my kids first showed me the facility, I knew it was the place for me!"

Earlier this month we celebrated National Personal Chef Day! 🍽 Our residents get to enjoy the convenience of ordering from a full menu or the daily special, offering a dining experience similar to having a personal chef.

Here at Oak Pointe our goal is to help our residents maintain their independence as long as they can. We understand some days are going to call for a little extra support, whether it be rebuilding strength after a fall or help with daily activities.

We are fortunate to offer home health care to help with those needs using our company, Home Health Care Solutions. Services include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Skilled Nursing. Services are provided within the apartment, so there is no need to worry about travel when the weather isn't being so nice.
