Sandra Leiter is here for a short-term rehab stay. Sandy has no issues with staying here. She stated, "Everyone is great. The nurses are nice and he food is great. My accommodations are also good. I love the recliners as they are easier for me to get in and out of – makes a huge difference. The therapists are also excellent. Thomas and Dion are very, very good. It's so nice that I am able to do therapy on Saturdays and Sundays."

Earlier this month was National Nurse Practitioner Week. Melissa Parker is our NP here at Miller's at Oak Pointe. She has been with Miller's for three years. Melissa has been a Nurse Practitioner for eight years. What she likes about her job is the residents.

Melissa said, "Getting to take care of these patients, improve their quality of life, and occasionally make them smile is what keeps me coming back!" Outside of work Melissa is a wife and mom of three very active boys that keep her very busy! She also enjoys watching baseball. She is a Chicago Cubs fan.

Thank you, Melissa, for everything you do for us. We appreciate you!

The Employee of the Month is Jean Esterline, our Assistant Director of Nursing. The residents picked Jean because she is helpful in the dinning room, walks them down the hall for exercise, takes time to talk and listens to them, and always has a smile on her face. Thanks, Jean, for all you do!

On October 30th, we celebrated National Candy Corn Day in the sweetest way. Throughout the month, staff had the chance to guess how many candy corns were packed inside our festive pumpkin. Congratulations to Jenica, one of our new team members in activities, for having the closest guess – nearly 600 candy corns.

Way to go, Jenica! Thanks to everyone who joined in on the fun. It was a sweet way to wrap up the Halloween season.

Oak Pointe was visited by the lovely Sanderson Sisters from the Disney Movie "Hocus Pocus." Thankfully, no spells have been cast.....at least not yet....

Sadie Allen is a short-term resident that admitted this week for rehab. She is in therapy with Lauren Clink. Her goal is to return home.

Martha Simmons is a long-term care resident that was admitted in 2024. She is doing therapy with Thomas Leazier, PTA. Martha said, "My most favorite part of rehabilitation is walking."
