We lovingly refer to this mayhem as Battleball, where we wrestle the ball and each other, using our trusty noodles or feet to desperately ditch the ball and sneak it past an opponent to score a GOAL!!! The crowd predictably loses it! We laughed until our sides ached, and our faces throbbed from smiling! It's ridiculously fun to play and wildly entertaining to watch, and around here, we're totally obsessed with this game!

Back at it again! Our weekly cooking club has become a shining highlight that we all eagerly anticipate! This week we created magnificent mini cheesecakes, infusing them with the sweetness of fresh strawberries and strawberry glaze if you wanted! As we mixed together, each person added their own unique spark of positivity and energy, crafting a true masterpiece that uplifts and inspires!

Crafts, crafts, crafts! We sure have a good time together. We made flower pens today! The residents definitely enjoyed this, something useful to work on word searches and other puzzles, so lovely to look at as decorations or if you're feeling snazzy tuck it behind your ear.

Inspired by Donkey's phrase, "In the morning, I'm making waffles 🧇," we've adapted it here at Summit Manor to "In the afternoon, WE are making waffles." This was a highly entertaining and delectable experience. Residents were able to customize the batter to their liking, while staff provided assistance with cooking. Gathering to share a meal is a blessing, but collectively preparing it enhances the experience, regardless of its simplicity. We certainly enjoyed ourselves immensely!

💙 Meet Henry – Kentucky’s Biggest Fan 🏀

In honor of Senior Citizen Month, we’re excited to introduce you to one of our beloved residents at Signature HealthCARE of Sunrise Manor—Henry, a lifelong and very proud Kentucky Wildcats fan!

When asked about the proudest moments in his life, Henry didn’t hesitate—cheering on the boys in blue has been a true highlight. From driving his decked-out Wildcat car in parades to attending games at Rupp Arena (and even sitting in on a few private practices!), Henry’s passion for his team runs deep.

He's even featured in the book "The Sixth Man," a tribute to the spirit of Kentucky basketball fans. Around here, Henry isn’t just a fan—he’s often called Kentucky’s biggest fan.

As Henry says:

“You can’t just like something when they win. You stay with them through the tough times too.”

Thank you, Henry, for reminding us what loyalty, passion, and heart truly look like.

🇺🇸 A Special Visit in Elizabethtown

Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming U.S. Congressman Brett Guthrie to Signature HealthCARE of Elizabethtown, where he spent time connecting with our residents and stakeholders. His visit was followed by a Kentucky Chamber dinner held in his honor, where we had the opportunity to hear updates on key issues and initiatives happening in Washington.

We’re grateful for leaders like Congressman Guthrie who take the time to listen, engage, and advocate for the future of long-term care.

Several of our Tennessee facilities came together for a fun-filled day of friendly competition at the Signature Senior Olympics—and WOW, did our staff and residents bring the energy!

A huge shoutout to the incredible teams from Monteagle, South Pittsburg, Cleveland, Rockwood, Spring City, and Fentress County for showing up with spirit, smiles, and serious skills. Every moment was filled with laughter, heart, and a whole lot of Signature pride.

Meet Matt J. Clark

Matt Clark brings nearly two decades of leadership experience to his role as CEO and Administrator at Hermitage Care & Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro, KY. He’s known for turning things around in skilled nursing facilities—improving operations, boosting team morale, and raising the bar for resident care. Over the years, Matt has helped several centers thrive, focusing on smart planning, strong teams, and creating a culture where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.

Before stepping into the world of long-term care, Matt followed a very different path—he was a chef! A proud graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago, he even served as Signature HealthCARE’s Regional Director of Dining Services at the Home Office. That unique background has given him a deep appreciation for hospitality, service, and the joy of bringing people together.

When he’s not at Hermitage, you’ll likely find Matt on the golf course, enjoying the outdoors, or cooking up something special for his wife Krista and their two sons, Knox and Carter. Whether he’s at work or at home, Matt is all about connection, community, and making a positive impact.
