Today, we attended the spectacular
groundbreaking event for the Station at Congaree Pointe. This mixed-use development along the Bluff Road corridor will include a state-of-the-art Cooperative Health site. Our Board Chairman Hasan Ross-el delivered remarks during the event. He was joined by our Acting CEO Dr. Rufus Wofford for the ceremonial groundbreaking. The Station at Congaree Pointe demonstrates the power of partnership between state/local governments with non-profits.

Recently, HRSA awarded Cooperative Health its prestigious Heart Health Badge. With heart disease being the leading cause of death in South Carolina, this award showcases that Cooperative Health is at the forefront of addressing this crisis in the Midlands region. In response, Cooperative Health ensures at least 70 percent of its at-risk patients manage their blood pressure, receive statin therapy, and access to***co cessation support. Congratulations to our clinical teams for their diligence and excellence!

Congrats to our Bilingual Parent Educator Alberto Montoya Ortega for being selected as Home Visitor of the Year by Children's Trust of South Carolina. Alberto's dedication to parent education and early childhood development is truly inspiring. Alberto will receive his award next month. We salute your efforts to improve positive parenting practices. Last Friday, we welcomed Rep. Annie McDaniel to Winnsboro Pediatric & Family Practice. She was joined by Winnsboro Mayor Demetrius Chatman, Winnsboro Town Manager Chris Clauson, and Ridgeway Mayor Pro Tem Belva Belton. We thank them all for coming to learn about Cooperative Health.

We have some hot days ahead in the Midlands with temperatures expected to climb above 100 degrees. Here’s some quick tips to beat the heat and stay safe:

1) Hydrate constantly 2) Stay indoors during peak heat periods (10AM-4PM) 3) Wear light colored clothing, hats and sunglasses
4) Be sure to cool down immediately if you get overheated
5) Eat light
