To our families, friends, clients and followers! We have some exciting news to share with you..
LaNita and I have decided to split our venture of Carolina Assessment Services LLC and continue our love for the work in two separate individual practices by the end of the year. This decision did not come lightly and although bittersweet, comes with the utmost joy for each other. These past for years have been beyond amazing and soo much more than we dreamed of.
With this, allow us to re-introduce ourselves to the community, as our missions to help and be there for others has not changed (and we have not even gone far physically from one another 😅).

& last but certainly not least, Meet Michaela Grant! 🤩

Hello, my name is Michaela Grant! I am currently a counseling student at the University of South Carolina. I received a B.S. in Psychology from Wofford College in 2022 and am working towards my Ed.S. in Counselor Education, as well as my Play Therapy Certificate. My current focus is Clinical Mental Health.
I tend to view counseling from a person-centered lens, which is a non-directive approach that allows me to guide you through your counseling journey. I look forward to working with many different populations and advocating for mental health resources within the community!

Up next, Meet Matt Pascavage! 😀

My name is Matt Pascavage, and my pronouns are He/Him. I am in the Counseling Program at the University of South Carolina and working at CAS for Practicum. I have a BA in Experimental Psychology also from the University of South Carolina. I am originally from High Point, NC, but moved down to Columbia six years ago.
I have a passion for working with adolescents and young adults as they work through the struggles that life throws their way. My goal is to provide a supportive environment as we work together to explore your experiences and emotions. I enjoy learning, and if I am not working you can find me reading at coffee shops around town. I look forward to working with you and helping you begin this journey of self-discovery.

Up next, Meet Ryan Bing 🙂

Hi! My name is Ryan Bing. I am a Practicum and Intern student from the University of South Carolina. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Charleston Southern University. My current area of study is Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I am also working on earning my certificate in play therapy.

I enjoy studying and using therapeutic techniques from person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy because I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth. I am here to help encourage that growth and aid people in whatever changes they want to make in their lives. I hope to offer a supportive, kind, and welcoming environment for everyone who comes to see me.

Introducing our new ✨Intern series ✨ for 🍂Fall 2023🍂
Meet Miguel Salvana

Hiya! I’m Miguel Salvana, and I’m a Mental Health Counseling student from Webster University here in Columbia and I will be working as a practicum student here in Carolina Assessment Services. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines just a couple of years ago. I was born in Connecticut but spent most of my life there and only moved to the United States in 2022.

As a younger counselor in training, I also hope I can provide empathetic care and support to adolescents and young adults who are seeking help with their mental health. These mental health struggles are things I have seen all around me in my own young adulthood, and I am determined to assist others as they navigate through these difficult times. Apart from that, I do wish to help people of any age, culture, or really any walk of life! Having grown up in the Philippines, I had the opportunity to gain a perspective on both collectivist and individualist cultures, and I hope that I can be of help to other first or second-generation Americans like myself. I am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community as well and hope to be able to support members of the community through counseling as well.

I am still a student, but I am partial to humanistic and cognitive behavioral approaches to counseling. I believe in people’s goodness and deservingness of love, especially knowing how difficult it is to convince oneself of these things. I think that many of the ways we feel and behave come down to the way we think, oftentimes in an irrational way, and I hope to be able to help my clients address these ways of thinking. I just really care about people and am well aware of the seriousness of mental health; I hope to be of service in your journey to becoming your best (or at least better) self!

When I’m not at the clinic, my hobbies mostly involve video gaming, reading manga, or diving through different niche genres of music. I am a big advocate of letting your geek flag fly!
