Postpartum depression.
Perinatal depression.
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
That’s a lot of names for one core issue:
🧠 My body struggles to produce enough GABA in the presence of high progesterone.
GABA is your primary calming neurotransmitter.
When it’s low, calm isn’t a mindset you can “access.”
It’s biochemically unavailable.
So motherhood, for me, didn’t feel soft or intuitive.
It felt like:
😡 rage
🌑 despair
🧨 emotional overwhelm
The version of motherhood I wanted felt completely out of reach.
And talk therapy didn’t fix that — because this wasn’t a thought problem.
It was biochemical.
Here’s what changed everything:
🔥 Ketosis is one of the most effective ways to support GABA production and nervous system regulation.
(And yes — sometimes exogenous support matters too.)
This pregnancy hasn’t been perfect — let’s be clear.
I’m not on a pedestal.
But it’s been different.
There’s more grace.
More understanding.
More tools.
My dysregulation is a fraction of what it was before — and for the first time, I trust that postpartum doesn’t have to swallow me whole.
I’m not crazy.
I’m not broken.
I’m supported.
✨ If this resonates and you want to understand how to use ketosis to support mood, hormones, and nervous system regulation without wrecking yourself,
🗣️ comment KETO for my guide Keto Code.
Motherhood isn’t just emotional.
It’s metabolic.
