In 2008, we added our Medicaid option for people who are eligible in South Carolina. When we first went live, we were in 34 counties with fewer than 10,000 members. Since then, we are proud to say we have grown to be in every county in the state. Our main focus is you. We make sure:
• You have low copayments for visits to doctors and for generic or brand drugs.
• You get free extra benefits like a free cellphone with free monthly minutes, data and text messages; a reloadable card to use at certain retail stores if you get your checkups; free car seat; girl scout membership; boys and girls club membership and free books for your young child.
• We have a prenatal program for moms-to-be.
• We also have a nurse help line you can call 24/7 to talk privately about any health topic. Or you can get help deciding what to do or where to go for a health problem.
• Our local staff can help you. Community Resource Coordinators help match your needs with local resources to get you the right care.
• When you need one, you get a case manager. A case manager will work with you and your doctors to help you take care of health issues like asthma, diabetes and pregnancy. September is Baby Safety Month — a time to spotlight the importance of keeping our little ones safe, healthy and thriving. From their first breath, babies rely on us to create a secure environment where they can grow and explore with confidence.
🏠 Sadly, many accidents happen at home — but the good news is most are preventable with the right knowledge and preparation.
Here are four key areas every parent and caregiver should focus on:
🔹 Safe Sleep Practices
Always place babies on their backs to sleep in a crib free of loose blankets, pillows or toys.
🔹 Car Seat Safety
Make sure car seats are properly installed and fit your baby’s age, weight and height.

Use outlet covers, secure heavy furniture and install baby gates to reduce risks around the house.

Keep Your Baby Safe
When you're pregnant, it's important to stay away from alcohol, to***co, and drugs. What you use also goes to your baby, and it can hurt their growth and health.
Even small amounts can be risky. Your baby could be born needing treatment or face a higher chance of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
If you want help quitting, talk to your doctor. They can help you find support and care to keep you and your baby safe.
