Healthy Blue South Carolina

Healthy Blue South Carolina We have a name you can trust. When you cover yourself in Blue, it’s all about you. We have a history of caring. We launched our first HMO in 1984. government.

In 2008, we added our Medicaid option for people who are eligible in South Carolina. When we first went live, we were in 34 counties with fewer than 10,000 members. Since then, we are proud to say we have grown to be in every county in the state. Our main focus is you. We make sure:
• You have low copayments for visits to doctors and for generic or brand drugs.
• You get free extra benefits like a free cellphone with free monthly minutes, data and text messages; a reloadable card to use at certain retail stores if you get your checkups; free car seat; girl scout membership; boys and girls club membership and free books for your young child.
• We have a prenatal program for moms-to-be.
• We also have a nurse help line you can call 24/7 to talk privately about any health topic. Or you can get help deciding what to do or where to go for a health problem.
• Our local staff can help you. Community Resource Coordinators help match your needs with local resources to get you the right care.
• When you need one, you get a case manager. A case manager will work with you and your doctors to help you take care of health issues like asthma, diabetes and pregnancy. Healthy habits start early! 💧

Healthy Blue is proud to support our Beaufort County schools. We donated reusable water bottles to Broad River Elementary School for students to use in a month‑long water challenge. The initiative was led by the school’s wellness team.

This is the second year of the program. It helps kids remember to drink more water each day. Students were excited and started using their Healthy Blue water bottles right away!

Staying healthy starts with keeping up with the care that helps you catch small issues before they become big ones. The good news? Many preventive services are covered at no cost for Healthy Blue South Carolina members.

Here are 5 preventive visits to put on your 2026 checklist:
1️⃣ Annual Wellness Visit
A yearly check-in with your primary care provider helps track your health, update medications, and identify risks early.

2️⃣ Immunizations
Vaccines help protect adults too. Ask your provider if you’re due for a flu shot, COVID‑19 booster, tetanus shot or other recommended vaccines.

3️⃣ Blood Pressure & Heart Health Screening
High blood pressure often has no symptoms. Regular checks help prevent heart disease and stroke.

4️⃣ Cancer Screenings
Depending on your age and risk factors, your provider may recommend screenings for breast, cervical, lung, or colorectal cancer.

5️⃣ Diabetes & Cholesterol Checks
Simple blood tests can help you stay ahead of diabetes and monitor your cholesterol levels.

Pro tip: If you don’t have a primary care provider yet, Healthy Blue can help you find one.

A child’s smile is priceless. February is National Children's Dental Health Month🦷. Because dental health can impact overall health, kids need to develop good oral health habits early.

We want to remind our members and their parents to:
✔️Brush teeth twice a day.
✔️Floss at least once per day. (For baby teeth, start flossing as soon as their teeth start to touch.)
✔️Prevent cavities by limiting sweets and eating healthy foods.
✔️Visit the dentist for an exam and cleaning every six months.

If members have questions about their dental benefits or need help finding a dentist, they can:
