This! I completely agree with listening to your body and allowing your emotional needs to shift your physical needs. I have changed many times myself throughout different times in my life. Just don’t stop moving ❤️

Do you listen?

Do you hear that voice in your gut and heart that tells you what you need, right now?

For years I needed long hard runs that allowed me to cry, vent and move forward, if only with strides towards the unknown. Running is a metaphor for life. One foot in front of the other.

Eventually I needed weights. Picking up the heavy, lifting it above my head, it seemed like a metaphor for each new second of my anger and my grief. Regardless of how hard the day was, my strength was enough to shoulder the weight.

Lately I’ve craved stillness through movement. Yoga, Pilates, Long walks with my dogs, hikes in nature. I think this is a metaphor for new growth, change, quiet, reflection, and peace.

Never be married to one method or one form of exercise therapy. You will grow through phases of anger, resentment, strength and inner shifting towards new life.

The beauty of fitness is it never judges your journey and it never says you aren’t where you should be. It simply waits for you to come to its doors and it welcomes you with its healing energy in whatever form you need for the day. It’s always there for you, you just have to decide to be there for yourself and go towards its light.

Did you know that pelvic floor therapy can improve your s*x life? Pain, decreased sensation, hypersensitivity, and difficulty with experiencing pleasure or achieving climax can all be improved with treatment. It’s amazing to learn about your body… you can learn how to RELAX, allow your pelvic floor to do what it knows how to do, remain present in your body and out of your head, and experience so much more pleasure. Tips for UTI prevention:

1) Drink enough water (typically 60-100 oz per day for most healthy individuals)

2) Make sure you’re not constipated (a good BM every 1-3 days)

3) Limit processed foods, focus on whole foods with a variety of fruits and veggies

4) Limit consumption of bladder irritants:
-caffeine
-carbonation
-Tea
-artificial sweeteners
-sugar in high amounts
-vinegars
-tomatoes
-acidic foods
*I usually recommend keeping “fun drinks”, which is anything other than plain water, to two 8-oz glasses or less*

5) P*e after s*x and practice safe s*x

6) Just use water to clean the v***a- no soaps, lotions, or douches

7) Wear cotton underwear

8 ) If you experience vaginal dryness or are peri or post-menopausal, talk to your doctor about topical vaginal estrogen to help improve tissue quality, which can be protective against UTI’s

If you are doing all these things and still experience recurrent UTI’s, make an appointment with a pelvic floor physical therapist! Pelvic floor muscle tension, scar tissue in the abdomen and pelvis, poor blood flow, improper voiding mechanics, etc can cause recurrent UTI’s… pelvic floor therapy can be so helpful in resolving this problem!

We’ve got a great Core Recovery Program that will take you from zero to hero in 4 wks! It is typical for participants to nearly close their diastasis in 4 wks!

To get your pelvic floor to relax try this: think 2 inches deep to the perineum and see if you can get it to drop. This may help you relax deep into the abdomen and get the pelvic floor a little stretch!

Remember, the pelvic floor needs to be flexible AND strong!

Did you know that B-Vitamins can cause pelvic pain and can irritate the bladder? They are good for us, but some bodies don’t do well with them. Check your supplements and drinks to see which of them have added B’s… if you’ve got pelvic pain, do a trial run of removing them from your diet for a while and see if you feel better!
